I rarely write reviews for hostels, but I have to say- by far- this is the best hostel I have ever stayed in. From the free pick-up at the airport to the welcome drink/cookies on arrival at the hostel, to the clean and charming room to the free tea/cookies outside my door every evening- the staff here spared no expense in hospitality. The small things are really important- and the staff here made sure to take care of the small things. It is this consideration that has guaranteed my return.

This hostel is great because it has dorm style rooms. Their own staff handle everything from bicycles, motorbikes, and driving you around on the most popular tour destinations. Since the staff is so friendly, it makes for a very good quality and consistent experience of Yogyakarta.

This is definitely the best hostel in SE Asia! After one day it felt like a second home, the staff is very friendly and you can chat for hours with the owner, Robert. Everything is very clean, the breakfast is 5 star niveau! Yogyakarta itself is a very nice city for a 4-5 days stay, after a tour to Borobudur and Prambanan (btw, take the tours offered by the hostel, Thomas, the indonesian guide, is awesome ;) ) you should go to the Merapi and for sunset to Parangtritis (black sand beach).

a bit outside the 'center' but in a very safe villa area. and by cab it s 5 to 10 minutes to the center for 1 euro 50. if the crew does not bring you, which they regularly do. the service they want to provide at this place is unmatched. want food: they make it. need transport: they provide it. need tips: they give tips. tx !

This is a great hostel, I\'ve been to many hostels before but this is the first time I feel I was a friend of the family visiting rather than a normal guest in a hostel :) room was okay, Robert and all the others are extremely nice and helpful..I highly recommend this hostel and would definitely stay there again if in Yogyakarta..the only drawback was the location but taxis are cheap and easy to find..

I enjoyed my stay in Green Garden very much. Robert picked me up at the airport and kindly showed me around Yogya. It is a little bit far away from the city center but in a developed villa area with great quietness and security, that is what I really want for hostels. The facilities are simple but everything is very clean. WIFE and printing service is available 24 hours. Robert and Crystal gave pertinent tour recommendations to me, which made my trip an efficient and memorable one.

Very very nice place! Traveled to Yogya for 2 days & ended up staying for 4 days...simply because of the hostel. I even let forego my Jakarta-S\'pore air ticket & booked a new ticket from Yogya-S\'pore The breakfast table has flags of the countries of the hostelites....very thoughtful Cristal (an intern from Holland) is terrific, helpful and good company. It was a home away from home experience & by far one of the best hostels I\'ve stayed so far Thank you Robert & a very spl thanks...More

Really wonderful staff, clean, delicious breakfast, and set in a really nice neighborhood just on the outskirts of town. I'd highly recommend Green Garden and will definitely go back next time I'm in Jogja

The Green Garden is definitely the best hostel I have stayed at to date. The owner, Robert, does an excellent job at ensuring your stay in the hostel and Yogya is the best it can be. The hostel has excellent bicycles that can be used for trips around the city or to the nearby mountain. They also provide excellent dinners for a very decent price. I would highly recommend staying at Green Garden B&B!!
