We loved San Gil and this hostel! We booked and stayed in a private room which was spotless like the rest of the hostel, very spacious and had a great en-suite. All tours and activities were easily booked at reception and the owner Shaun is always around if you need any help choosing your activities of which there are loads. Also, take Shaun's advise on how to play the local game "Tejo" (like bowls with explosives and beer!) he knows what he's talking about! We didn't want to leave, super place.

Great hostel with great staff and amenities. Definitely check out the game tejo, you won't be disappointed. Good with helping book tours and giving advice, kitchen is ace. The only thing to improve on would be lockable areas for backpacks.

Very nice hostel with great activities like Tejo, throwing a metal ball in clay and hope you get an explosion, fun colombian game, and very well organized bij Shaun, the owner of the hostel. Fun and relaxt hostel to stay at! Great activity guide as well!

Perfect hostel to relax in after a day of activities. Everything can be organised through the owner Shaun. While I was there he also arranged a game of tejo (local game in columbia) and a football match between the police. This hostel is not to be missed. A must stay in San Gil.

Super friendly staff, really clean and there is even a jacuzzi! So many places to sit, chill and meet new people. The staff can organise any activity for you at really good prices and even help book a bus to your next destination. We did caving and absolutely loved it! Only downside is that there are no lockers but they are happy to let you store any valuables in their safe so not too bad. Would definitely recommend staying here! Plus it's right in the centre of town! Great hostel :)

Macondo was a fine place to stay. The hot water only works when you use low pressure. There is not much of atmosphere upstairs, but the downstairs area is nice to hang out. Staff will book excursions for you, but the daytime lady is a bit too much of a stickler and the nighttime guy didn't tell us correctly. Another man there was very helpful though. They leave the front door wide open so little security. If you have to leave your bags , there's no locked location. They just sit by the desk.

Can't fault the hostel. Great friendly staff, one even let me watch game of thrones with her one evening! Able to book all activites you want with them. Nice rooms and jacuzzi outside! Warms showers always clean. Maybe the only little thing I could fault was the small indoors sitting area not the biggest or comfiest but this is being very picky!

It was a really great expirience! Very well located, clean, excellent staff specially Andrea and Gloria that always were so kind. We highly suggest this hostel for any activity and plan you want to do at San Gil.

The hostel was pretty, clean, spacious and with a very good location. It wasn't located right in the main square but that's what made it good. It was a couple of blocks away from the main square in a very quiet and tranquil street, surrounded by nice and cheap restaurants. It had a nice patio with a little jacuzzi, it also had an area just for hanging your clothes, which came handy after a day of extreme sports and wet clothes.

The staff at Macondo were very friendly and helpful. They have lots of information about all of the activities in the area and can book anything for you. The jacuzzi tub was awesome to have after a day hydrospeeding or river rafting. The kitchen was decent. The location is good, just a few blocks from the main square but on a peaceful street.
