Great place! Shaun runs the show there and he was super nice and helpful! They can arrange all sorts of activities in San Gil and the hostel is really close to the supermarket and all the good restaurants. Best place in town for sure

We arrived late on Wednesday night and the staff was very helpful even at the late hour. They showed us the room, which was spotless and quite cozy, and were also very eager to help the next morning. Unfortunately, our stay was short, but from a first glimpse, the service was top notch. If you are in Santander and specifically in San Gil, definitely stop by Macondo! Thanks to all the staff!

One of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed at. Great kitchen, loads of storage space in the rooms, the owner is incredibly helpful and did a couple of great barbeques while I was there. really nice social place and very relaxed.

Although they didn`t have our booking, they managed to vacate a room for us and were very apologetic. Good location and quiet.

I have been traveling around the world for 7 months now and have stayed at over 50 hostels, Sean who is the owner of Macondo is one of the best, genuine and most helpful host I have come across. As soon as we walked in the door he was there to greet us and as we were leaving was busy helping us book taxi's and buses and even walked out the front to wave us out at the door. Ryan, Sydney

Great hostel with lots of space and great, well informed staff. It is situated at the top of a fairly steep hill so if you have problems climbing

I left thinking to myself, this is the best hostel I've ever stayed in! Part of it had to do with the other travelers I met while there, but most of it goes to Shawn, the phenomenal owner/city guide/tour booker/tejo champion. The hostel itself was clean and inviting, as well. Wish the hot tub were a little hotter, but it still did the trick, ha. Try to be there for a Tuesday night of Tejo with the rest of your hostelmates, and definitely go rafting on the Suarez while in San Gil!

It was great. Hans is the best. He was always concerned about us and what we needed. He has a lot of activities to do. It was a little poor about sightseeing. The major attention is related to the extreme activities/sports. But in general he was great. The drinks were cheap. The beds are really comfortable. The bathroom was clean, also the jacuzzi.

A great little hostel in a great little town that compliment each other perfectly. Its right in the heart of everything and the staff were a goldmine of information about tours and the surrounding area. Good social areas for chilling and a social beer if you want one. Definitely recommended would have stayed longer if time allowed.......

Awesome hostel - if in San Gil you've gotta stay here. They've thought of everything and more. I will definitely be back to fit in some caving and mountain biking - did the rafting, waterfall hikes, and paragliding and partied on the square and had an absolute blast! Include all of these adventures with a great vibe and facilities and you have the makings of a terrific hostel experience.

One of the best hostels we stayed at during our visit to Colombia. In particular, the owner and his staff went beyond expectations and could not be more helpful (without imposing). They gave excellent advice on trips and activities (including those that are free) to do in the area which are very good value when booked through the hostel. No hard sell, just a genuine wish for their guests to make the most of San Gil. Highly recommend this hostel.

Great hostel in a fun town.Sean, the Aussie owner, goes out of his way to make sure things are running smoothly, whether it be taking a crowd down to the local court for Tejo Tuesday(dont miss it!) or organising and giving advice on everything thats on offer in the local area,Good chilll out areas, friendly staff, hot water, jacuzzi, close to all the action in town and if you are going out to Barichara and just want to chill out for a couple of days, ask Sean about his hacienda with rooms to rent,
