They clean the rooms everyday, it's away from the hustle and bustle of the bars but only a 3 minute walk to the beach, the bed was big n comfy, but what it comes down to is Felix the owner. This guy makes the best breakfast you'll find in South America and I lived with a s. american family for 3 months who ran a restaurant out of their house. It couldnt touch felix's culinary skills. And his hospitality is just as good. Stay here to relax. Want to act like your 16 again? Go 2 the main strip

Felix was very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do more to help make my stay comfortable. He is also a good cook and speaks excellent English.

Amazing hostel!

The owner is a nice man. He takes care of his clients very good. The shower head was not working right. As soon as I told him he changed it right away. It´s only a few blocks from the beach. Breakfast is not included but very good and the price of 3$ is also very good.

Great place to stay for the price! And great additional breakfast if you like for only $3 (recommend the banana pancakes!!). Felix was very helpful, if anything too helpful! No real atmosphere as it's a hotel. But all in all good.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Macondo Hotel. The highlight of our stay was definitely the owner. He was extremely nice and accommodating and his breakfast (we had veggie omelets and banana pancakes) was excellent. Breakfast isn't included in the price of the room but it's definitely worth paying for (it only costs $3). The only negative during our stay was we found a ton of small bugs (maybe termites?) in the room the morning we left, and some had even gotten into my friend's suitcase.
