Mad House (previously The Local) has undergone a full renovation in late 2012. It is situated just two short blocks from the popular and vibrant Russian Market. Mad House features clean and comfortable rooms, a courtyard, rooftop bar, inside dining and informal relaxing area. Popular with expats, tourists and locals.
The Russian Market area attracts an eclectic array of expats, tourists and locals alike who all mingle nicely together in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Mad House is somewhat of a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh Riverside area yet only minutes via tuk tuk to the city centre, and 10 to 15 minutes to attractions such as the National Museum, Royal Palace, Wat Phnom Phnom, Central and Night markets, and to the nightlife around Street 51 and riverside.
Visiting cultural attractions such as Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and The Killing Fields is made easier from the Russian Market area as both are closer, and will cost less to go on a tuk-tuk. Mad House is only a 20-25 minute trip from the airport.
Mad House restaurant offers a high quality Western menu featuring a great range of burgers and snacks as well as breakfast 7 days. The bars offer daily specials and happy hour discounts including the famous $2 Mojito.
All onward travel including bus tickets and Visas can be arranged through reception at competitive prices and in a short time.

their listed prices are not true. booked a private single room for $5 USD. upon arrival (at 10pm - so too late to change places) found out that my room was actually $22 USD. seemed a bit like a scam to me. staff and cleanliness were fine, but the location is incredibly far from city centre. would not recommend.

Things to Note
Mad House reception is open from 7am until 11pm. We do have staff available after hours so any guests wishing to check in/out outside of our opening hours can do so by emailing or calling ahead to arrange this. We are happy to offer early check in at a minimal fee, however this is entirely dependent upon availability. For customers arriving before check in, you are welcome to use our public bathroom/shower to freshen up. Luggage storage is available. Once checked in, guests have a key which offers them 24 hour access to their rooms.
