Helder was definitely the best part of the surf camp; he was very helpful, especially as a surf teacher. The town is a bit out of the way which was good if you are looking for somewhere stress free and relaxing, but it's easily accessible by bus.

I loved every single bit of my stay at Madeira Surf Camp. The house is nice, clean and calm, a perfect retreat away from the nervousness of Europe. Helder, the camp owner, really looks after you during surfing but also helps you settling down in this little corner of paradise. Definitely will go back to Madeira and to Madeira surf camp.

Great place to stay if you want to relax and surf. The owner, Heldar, is a great guy and is very involved with the people staying here both with teaching them how to surf and with helping them figure out local logistics/ answering questions. I recommend renting a scooter or car when staying here as that will make it much easier to explore the beautiful island.

Loved staying here. Seems to attracts really laid back, friendly people so was amazing for a solo traveller (female 30yrs old). Helder (the Manager) was great, dropped me at the start of walks and helped us have a BBQ on the beach. Room was nice and there's a roof terrace with sun loungers. Less than 3 minutes walk from the sea and the bay where the surf lessons happen- you don't have to surf to stay here, but I gave it a go and it was great fun! Would definitely stay here again.
