The hostel was very good. Clean, confortable and the owner was helpful and friendly. But the acess was praticly impossible. We got lost and were guided by a fake guid who took us by the worst way to get money from us, which is quite commun in Fes. It's a better option to pay the hostel to pick you up at the airport.
The house looks nice in the common area. On the top floor there is no door and is very cold. The double room is only with a bathroom inside. There is no paper toilet and the bathrooms are rarely cleaned. If you want to start a trip at 6 a.m. they don't give you breakfast because the don't want to wake up early. In the winter there is only a gas radiator for the entire house. The owner is always looking for money. They usually have guests who don't sleep there and block the downstairs wc.
The staff was not very welcoming or kind.. If you dont speak French, Spanish or Arabic, beware because apparently the manager will decide to totally ignore you and that'll screw you over because the rest of the staff is no help. I called the hostel prior to my arrival to cancel a night and they hung up on me.. Also, they offered us food without letting us know how expensive it'd be- other hostels we stayed at in Morocco cooked for us for free. The quality is not worth the price!!
A very beautiful moroccan house and the equivalent family-like atmosphere! Staff helpful and friendly, location good in SE side of the Medina. Breakfast simple but nice. They alsoserve (not free) lunch and dinner. They give tips and help with taxi and excursions. Minuses: On December it was cold everywhere in the house. Only one bathroom for the entire house. No public kitchen to cook yourself, no cabinets in rooms. Bottom line: Certainly recommend it, experience true moroccan hospitality!
