Great location and great atmosphere, Cartagena's historical centre is awesome and the hostel has all of its awesomeness. Free wi-fi if and free use of internet point. I had a good stay in there, it was cheap and makin' friendship with other guests is easier than snapping yorir fingers. Perfect and funny Staff and, not less important, kind and polite customers. 9/10 - just because perfection doesn't exist.

Great location and a/c was excellent. Staff are super friendly, but not as helpful with useful local info and tours here are slightly more expensive than other hostels i visited. huge lounge area with big tv and small balconies. great restaurant downstairs.

Amazing hostel, one of the best I have been too. Staff are so friendly and helpful, Cartagena is a beautiful city and this hostel is right in the center of it all! Very clean, well taken care of place that feels like home. I met some people who had been staying at the hostel a month! Highly Recommend.

There were only two toilets for the whole hostel, and one of it didn`t have toilet seat. The receptionist didn't stop playing poker while he was attending me. The room (double private) didn' t have maintenance, it was in a very bad condition, and it didn't have AC. It was impossible to sleep well.

This place was comfy, interesting, central, smart, cool and chilled... If your looking for a party hostel go elsewhere. because its exactly what it says on the tin "Chill out hostel"

So far so good. I have extended twice by now and will come back after exploring the surrounding areas. 5 bed dorm does not have air-conditioning, 10 bed dorm does. I've stayed in both and either is fine.

I enjoyed my stay in Makako very much. The staff was extremely friendly, especially Gabriel, he is a very funny guy. It is located inside the old town, so it is convenient to different sites. By the way, the best is they have FREE ICE WATER AND LEMONADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My stay was very pleasant overall. The hostel is located in a nice, quiet street in a walking distance to all the main squares of the old town of Cartagena. The staff is certainly the most amazing thing about the hostel, they're all very friendly and helpful. The little things made my stay even more pleasant, this includes free coffee in the morning and lemonade throughout the day. The hostel could be better if it had more than one PC though. This wasn't that big deal to me however.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Makako - the place is very friendly and we especially enjoyed the air-conditioning at night times!! It was very welcome as a relief from the relentless heat of Cartagena. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Gabriel who was one of the nicest staff members we have met in any of our stays at many hostels! He always has a smile and is keen to help you out which was very useful for us as the heat meant that we couldn't go too far from the fans!!

Fantastic place and fantastic people! Specially Constanza who is the superwoman of this facility. She cleans, serves and what not! Gina in the reception is also a fantastic person. Serviceminded and helpful. All the staff were really great, just that I spent most of my time around Gina and Costanza! Nice place to meet people. Not a partyhostel, but calm and tranquil. Big tv, that's on most of the time! Nice with hammocks. Really recomend room with ac, coz Cartagena are smoking hot! Good location

Very nice hostel in great location with friendly and helpful staff. They had the TV on constantly showing movies, even if no-one was around which I found a bit irritating, and have vowed to only look for hostels without a TV room in future, as I find it rather anti-social. Internet and WiFi were out of action for 24 hours. Otherwise I really liked the place.

Women had been taken to clean the coin was put under the pillow. Though it is not the trivial amount, it is still stealing and do anything for money.

Sorry for the missunderstanding amigo, The cleaning lady who is a great and trustable person and have been working for us since the first day, found your 3 coins under the bed (not the pillow ) It was right after you checked out and she started cleaning the spot you left, she reported the money to the reception and your 3 coins are still there , whenever you want to come back for your coins they will be there . Thanks for visiting us and again , sorry for the misunderstanding.

The private room is very hot. It's very difficult to sleep in this room. It must have air conditioning.

This is one of the best hostels I have been too, the staff are so friendly and helpful and look after everyone so well. I stayed at the media Luna also which is very nice and good for a party but this place is smaller and awesome for a chill out hostel with a great and friendly atmosphere. Thanks.

Great hostel. Staff were very welcoming and made it feel like home. The hostel was frequently cleaned and the facilities were spot on. TV, wifi, AC, kitchen and bathrooms. Located right in the heart of the old town, nearby by numerous bars and cafes.

Great location and great staff. The 10 bedroom can be a bit loud because it is located next to the common area. If you're looking for something more quiet consider one of the non air conditioned dorms.
