Makin is a hippie hangout in a very busy neighborhood. We stayed here because everything else was full. Everyone was nice and the other guests friendly, but getting to sleep with quietness before 4:00 a.m. Was not going to happen as everyone was getting drilunk and partying in the kitchen.

The hostel might be better off in summer, not really sure, because I was the only one staying there during my time. Perhaps the owners should look into heating seriously in winter (it is an old building with thin walls that do not insulate heat well). There's no air-con either in summer. For future travellers, keep in mind that check-in at this hostel is not 24 hrs.If you arrive late night or early morning,or if you can't stand the cold in winter you might consider staying somewhere else.

Marco and Carole-Anne are LEGENDS!!! I MISS YOU GUYS!!! They greet you with a smile and welcoming feel, are happy to chill out with you and discuss everything about life, evolution, and drunken fun memories! I had a GREAT time here... Awesome location too, right in the Moroccan market section, and only 10min walk to Sacramonte. Good WIFI, security, and kitchen. EVERYBODY SHOULD COME TO THIS HOSTEL!!!!!!!

I stayed for one night there, the hostel is good to some aspect like very good location, staff are very friendly. However, the room is quite small and beds were not so clean

The staff were really friendly and engaging inviting us to join them for drinks in the kitchen as soon as we arrived. It is well located with walking distance to Alhambra, Albaizin and the city centre The rooms, while small, tend to be a bit cold even with extra blankets and there is only one powerpoint to charge what ever electrical appliances you have. Be prepared to pay in cash or else they will charge you to pay with card. Also have an additional form of ID to leave for key deposit.
