The room is a bit too small. Especially the toilet, I think is about 1Mx1M only. Can't even hang a towel.....

Overall we had a great stay at Malabar. The room was okay although bit small. Minus point is no tv in the room but wifi is available. The staff is always available and ready to render any assistance.

Tony and Martin were very kind. I felt like in home. I loved the place and all I visited in Penang.

Room was very clean. Good location. Quiet place. No real common room to chill out, no breakfast. Wifi worked well. More like a hotel, not a hostel. We would stay here again.

The owner of the malabar guesthouse, Tony, is very friendly and he gave me a lot of helpful information about the town: What to do, where to go. Also so the staff - Henry - was always helfpul and attentive. The rooms are clean and simple, most of them dont have a window (but in a lot of hostels in Penang the rooms have no windows.).

We had a good stay at Malabar. Tony, the owner/operator was very friendly and helpful and made a point of showing us points of interest on the map he provided. Our private room with a bathroom was very small but we knew this upon booking. It was too small to hang out in, basically just for sleeping but considering the nature of our stay, it was all we needed. Based upon Tony's warm hospitality, I would recommend this hostel to others.

This is place is fine for just an inexpensive place to stay. It's within walking distance to the KOMTAR bus terminal. The rooms are clean, but small, with no windows, and extremely basic. The owner is very nice and helpful. Save yourself some trouble and rent a car or moped in Penang.

When someone is really far away from everything that is familiar, it is so important to feel that someone is looking after your safety and wellbeing. That is what I most appreciate about Malabar. And the super clean room and facilities.

The owner was really nice and helpful with everything. Our room was quite big and clean. There was a small common balcony, a plus for that!
