Mama Naxi`s Guesthouse is just a stonethrow away from the old town. The guesthouse is very nice and super clean. I can really recommend this for a relaxing stay in Lijiang. The private rooms are similar to hotel rooms and also the dorms are big and very comfortable.
Rooms are spacoius and bright, there is a very nice terrace that is perfect to chill out and finally the owner speaks English and picked us up at the bus station!
Apparently there are three different Mama Naxi's but somehow ended up at the right one! Someone from reception came to meet me at the edge of the ancient town and lead me through the maze of streets to the hostel. There is a location near the bus station which would be more convenient if you wanted to get away early. Staff were lovely and attentive
An absolutely lovely guest house that felt luxurious and modern after some other locations in China. Mama Naxi's is located less than a block from the bus station and ten minutes walk from Old Town Lijiang. They've got everything a hostel should have - good WiFi, tea and snacks upon arrival, lovely food (try the fresh and delicious family-style dinner!), information about town, and help with other area attractions - TLG, bike rentals, etc. Highly recommended.
We unfortunately had minimal water supplied to showers or toilet due to building a new bore. While buckets. While a communal alternative was offered next door, we had specifically requested a private room with facilities and as such paid a higher rate for the room. Staff were great but disappointed about the lack of water. WiFi was also unusably slow from our room.
I've been to plenty of Hostels/Guesthouses around the world, but Mama Naxi's Guesthouse was by far the best one. This has three main reasons: 1. It feels like living in a big luxury home. Fancy big couches wherever you look. 2. The owner make you feel so welcome and the food is the best! Especially the family diner - a must do. 3. Our room was just awesome. (I think we were lucky, and got the best one) A huge fancy double bed with even more fancy lamps around, including an anteroom. Go for it!
It would be much better if has a washing machine
I had a great time here. Staffs were warm and helpful, and also gave some advises about schedule. Thanks to them, it was quite fulfilling trip. I will visit here when I go back to Lijiang someday :)
Awesome Naxi family run this hostel! All very friendly (and they shared my lunch with them when I arrived!!) - the whole hostel is a beautiful, traditional Chinese building :) they don't serve food, only snacks, but this doesn't matter because there are loads of restaurants in the ancient town area - bit difficult to get to, get a taxi to 市一中 Shi Yi Zhong and from there give them a phone call and they'll come pick you up :) one downside is the bongo sellers outside play music until very late!
Mama Naxi is the best! When we arrived we got some tea and homemade cookies. The rooms are nice and clean and you don't hear a thing of the busy old town when you're sitting in the backyard. Mama is the boss and it's funny just to hear them argue with eachother. The daughter is very friendly and speaks good English. Arrange a tour to Tiger Leaping Gorge as well so this is the place to stay in Lijiang.
PLACE Little bit hard to find, but other matter all good. *their staff was English Speaking, and if ur planning to go Tiger Leaping Gorge they can book Bus for You..
Great location and friendly staff (family owned hostel). They made good recommendations what to do in Lijiang. Lots of foreigners who are staying overnight before going to Tiger Leaping George.
Perfect hostel for those staying in Lijiang. Super accommodating and the service is comparable to that of Western hotels; very helpful staff who will help with directions, booking tickets and constantly offer local snacks. Only downside is that the place is relatively hard to find in the maze that is Lijiang Old Town, which isn't their fault.
Very friendly and helpful here and English spoken, which is always a bonus in China.
