A home away from home. A great place to meet other travellers, and the hostel has a really friendly feel. Breakfasts are very yummy, communal outside area great. Jose is wonderful, very friendly and makes you feel right at home. Alan Jose's wingman deserves his own shout out for being fab and again making me feel very welcome throughout my stay. Cannot recommend this hostel enough, especially if you are travelling on your own as you will 100% love it. See you at Christmas Mama's home. X

Brilliant hostel all round - great location (10min walk to ADO Bus) close to loads of great restaurants and 5-10min walk to bike hire, also right near collectivo for Akumal (awesome beach - turtles!), brilliant staff who work tirelessly to make the hostel super fun and give it a great atmosphere, very clean, the six bed dorm room has awesome a/c and is nice and cool, great breakfast (different every day) - cannot recommend this place highly enough. Would have loved to stay longer.
2 blocks from main street, everything we need in walking distance. Staff very good, Jose is very very nice. Excelent Wifi and there are 2 PC´s we can use. Tea time everyday from 5 to 7 PM. In Mama´s Home you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
Jose is the man! Turned up to Tulum not having done any research and he planned our 4 days there. Extremely helpful, nice, and great place to stay!
Had a great time here, excellent vibe encouraged by all the staff eg movie nights, awesome breakfasts and generally just interacting with guests which you don't often see due to language barriers or in jaded hostel staff. The 6 person dorm with aircon was awesome, heaps of bathrooms never had to wait, very clean, kitchen looked well equipped, good sized common areas including big courtyard. Easy walk to the bus station. I would vigorously recommend this place.
Breakfasts are second to none. Imaginative ,wholesome filling. Quite exciting anticipating each mornings breakfast. Atmosphere is compelling, hard to leave. Booked for 2 nights stayed for 12!!. Met people here who have returned time and again. Jose and all the staff go to ultimate lengths to ensure your comfort and your trip memorable. This from 2 retired ladies travelling in uncharted waters, feeling at home in Central America.
Really a great hostel, Jose takes so much care of his guest, very good breakfast different every day. Very good all day long air coin and nice and spacious rooms, althought the mattress could be better, free cups of purified water. The only minus is the kitchen too small and not so clean. Close to the bus station and the huge supermarket, far from the beach as all the histels in the downtown.
Best hostel ever! Easy to make friends and perfect breakfast!! The stuff is really helpful you can ask him any questions. They have equipment of snorkeling to hire and the price is cheap. Anyway I love this hostel.
Lovely hostel, really nice room and bathroom (love the shell shower head!) Jose was more than helpful - when we noticed our AC wasn't working he called a workman and had it fixed within the hour, resulting in the coolest night's sleep we had in any Mexico hostel. Location is good for the bus station and Tulum town, with easy colectivos/buses to the ruins and other attractions. As other reviews have said, the breakfast was wonderful!
Loved this hostel. Jose is an absolute sweetheart and went to a few extra lengths in helping our travels run smoothly. As everyone has already mentioned, the breakfast is delicious, and having a nice gourmet meal thrown into basic backpacker eating is a real highlight.
Not the very cheapest, but with aircon, private bathroom and great breakfast, good value for money. Additionally the atmosphere is great and the owner José is a really nice guy, nice to talk to and always a great help if you need anything. Good fun to stay there but not rowdy if you're tired.

AMAZING hostel, best I have ever stayed in - thankyou so much Jose and the team! Proper air con in the dorms, incredible breakfast (mango pancakes with ice cream, churros, cheese and ham crepes), huge lockers, wifi in the rooms, good kitchen, everything is super clean. Atmosphere is great, activities every night (mojito night or film night on a projector). Great communal space and Jose gets to know everyone and makes sure no one is left out. Also he knows everything about cenotes and tours to do
Awesome hostel with a great inclusive atmosphere led by Jose - he's the man to know in Tulum, a great source of local knowledge and a genuine host. Upgraded our room, wifi was fast, breakfast was something special. Never too early to start the day with pancakes and ice-cream. Highly, highly recommend.
Jose himself is THE sweetest kindest creature w/ the coolest Spanish-Irish accent on the PLANET. The free breakfasts were WAY better than anything I've ever had at a hostel, and varied evety day. Only gave an "average" location because I am dying for a hostel in Tulum that's right on Boca Playa. However, it's abt 10 min f/ the bus station so that makes up for it. There is 1 moody staff who really shouldn't be working in hostels at all, but do NOT let this deter you from staying here. I
Very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast!!!

Everything is fine, breakfast varies every day and people are lovely. The only thing is that the mexican guy who works there is unable to run the hostel while the boss is on holiday. I didn't get to know the boss unfortunately, I only heard good things about him, also in other parts of mexico. But as I said, the mexican dude is quite moody, doesn't really help you and forgets a lot of things. Make sure you pay the right amount of money when you're leaving. The rest of the staff is wonderful!!!
relaxing atmosphere with great breakfasts and staff. Jose is amazing! Loads to do in Tulum and they give great advice
