This hostel was fine. The kitchen was okay but there was only one shower which was a little annoying. The beds were larger than I am used to in a hostel so that was nice. It was expensive but that is what you get in Managua I guess. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it.

This place is ok(ish). The staff weren't very present or helpful. The location is ok, but you'll need to take a taxi to get anywhere. I stayed in transit, it was fine for that.

I spent one night in both locations. Well located near Metro Centro for who want to do some shopping. Helpful quiet staff, charming place perfect to chill. Not much to do around though. You'll have to take a taxi (and bargain hard) to reach interesting places to visit.

The fans and air conditioning in the rooms is a welcome relief from the heat in Managua. I was only here in transit so I didn't spend a lot of time in this hostel but I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The Internet is quite good Nd the kitchen facilities are great. I'd recommend it.

Lovely place in a convenient place near bus stations. Nice rooms, cable tv! Nice garden with outside kitchen. Staff very friendly and helpful and funny too! They made us feel very welcome and we even had a group meal over Easter. Loved our stay there.

Nice hostel with a small swimming pool. We had a double room with private bathroom, which was very nice, but also a bit expensive compared with other hostels in Nicaragua. The airconditioning works only from 9p.m. to 9a.m. and only the staff can turn it on or off or change temperature. Our airport transfer worked without any problems (costs $20 for two persons). The kitchen was good equiped, you get filtered drinking water for free, only negative point here were some ants.

Arrogant staff. we paid 9 USD for a taxi to bring us to the bus terminal at 4 am but they never made any reservation because nobody show up at 4 am not even 4.10 then we had to walk up the guy who work at night who went to sleep again and we had to walk him up again to call a taxi for us . The only kind staff memeber we met is the cleaning girl in the 2nd building she should work at the reception

Thanks for providing your feedback to us. Just to make it clear to the readers of this comment/review that the shuttle to the bus terminal did arrive to pick up the guests, albeit later than the agreed upon time of 4am. Our apologies for the lateness.

I just stayed here for one night, but i can say the first impression was very positive, i can't complain for nothing, maybe the position is not the best, but staff is nice, helpful and is easy to socialize.

Stayed in a double private room with private bathroom. We were only there for one night and everything was pretty basic. I wish the breakfast would have been included because it was kind of pricy for the room.

I was only here one night. The dorm style room was cheap and clean and air conditioning was provided at night. There was a pool area outside that was nice with places to sit and chill if you wanted. The hostel also sold beer and water which was nice. It was quite a far drive from the airport, but the taxis are pretty cheap so that wasn't too big of an issue. It is gated and security seemed to be good at this place. I would recommend this place if you are only staying a night or two.

Great! Only complaint is that the pool was closed for some reason.

Great place. Nice swimming pool. Breakfast not included but available for purchase next to the outdoor swimming pool. Stayed a couple of nights and met some good travel buddies. Only small lockers available in the office. No lockers in rooms.

Thanks for your comments! In terms of not offering lockers in the rooms, we felt that it was safer and would free up space in the dormitories if we offer one large set of lockers in the reception area, however, we'll consider offering lockers in the dorms in the future.

I was put in the second house so not sure if things are better at the original. One fan for 12 beds in my room. Ridiculously hot and uncomfortable, and the windows banged all night if you opened them. Staff just ignored me even when I tried to engage them. They also hogged the television all day and night. Bathroom shower had no water pressure...literally had to scoop water and pour it over my body. I would not recommend staying here unless it's your last option!

Thanks for providing us with your feedback...The room I think your referring to is actually an eight bed dormitory which has two fans (one wall mounted and one on a table). After seeing your comments we've added hooks to the windows so they don't open and close on a windy day, which was causing the banging noise. Sorry to hear about the bad experience with the staff and their "hogging" the TV... I've reminded them to make sure the TV is for guest-use only. I've also changed a faulty shower head in the shower (the one I think was causing the problem with low pressure). Our apologies for your bad experience.

I was not at all impressed with my Managua Backpackers experience. I arranged and pre-paid for airport pick-up and no-one showed up - not a cool thing for 2 females in a sketchy city like Managua. Once we got to the hostel (by taxi), the staffer wanted to keep our passports but couldn't explain why. After no response from two emails directly to the hostel, I had to file a paypal dispute to get my airport pick-up $$$ back, and only then did I get my money back. Bad experience.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi, Sorry to hear about your experience with us...we definitely let you down with the shuttle that evening. It seems that there was a miscommunication on the date of your arrival and the fault is entirely ours. Sorry for the delay in getting your refund back to you, however paypal takes a few days (apparently up to 7 days) to process the refund back to the customer. In terms of the staff requesting passports, since our reception is closed after 11pm, we ask customers arriving after 11pm who have not made payment prior to arrival, to provide us with there passports. These are returned to guests in the morning (after 8am) once the receptionist has checked-in the guest.

Great hostel, we only stayed one night but had a great time! One suggestion, I understand that Nicaragua does not use addresses like many others are used to throughout the world, but clearer directions to the hostel would be appreciated. The directions given were very confusing, and it was difficult to find. A nearby landmark should be listed on the site to aide cab drivers and visitors to find the place. Otherwise, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast, overall a wonderful hostel!

Thanks for your comments! Our address does actually include the local landmark which is "Donde Fue Chaman" (translates to: "where chaman used to be") which is a nightclub that used to exist there and is well known by taxi drivers. Our full address is Colonial Los Robles, Donde Fue Chaman, 75 metros al sur, casa #55, Managua. Other than that, we do have a google map available on the HostelWorld website that is marked with the location of the hostel. Hope that helps!

Not at all impressed. It was near a bar or someone Playing loud music. The kitchen drawers had mouse Droppings.

Owner Comment (Show)
Sorry to hear that you didn't have the best stay with us. In Nicaragua, during late November and early December, there are many "purisimas", which are religious gatherings that often involve loud music and fireworks. I'm guessing that is what you heard. As for the rat droppings in the kitchen, we'll take a look at that and fumigate if we find there are any evidence of rodents.
