The kitchen has a great atmosphere at meal times. I also liked the cosy games room. Staff were very helpful, even when I came back with a puncture in the tyre of a hostel-owned bike! Thank you for being great hosts.

Bed was really comfortable. However, staff seemed a bit disorganized, and the overall feel of the place was a bit run-down. Ok, I guess--would possibly stay there again if back in Dunedin--but nothing special.

We wanted to stay 1 night and was told we need to pay for 2 which we did as we couldnt find anything else at the time. At $240 odd dollars for a 1 night stay was a ripoff. We thought the place must atleast be nice but it was grotty and filthy. The bed hadnt even been changed! We have stayed in backpackers all around the world none as bad or expensive as this. We even had to go to the shop down the road to buy pillows. Wouldnt recoment at all and want our money back.

Not the best hostel we stayed at in NZ. This is mainly due to the less than average cleanliness, particularly in the kitchen in the second house (where we stayed). It seems nobody checks if people do their dishes, as a consequence everything is quite greasy and cannot be used before being washed again. That being said, it's not a bad place to stay at. Host Domingo and other staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The building has character to, would look even better if it were upgraded a bit

Friendly and casual atmosphere. Old building but our room was sunny and warm. Nice place.

The hostel is everything you can expect from a hostel. The beds were a little hard and the house is a little cold, but with the heaters on it's perfectly fine. The main reason that I enjoyed my stay so much is that the staff is so friendly and helpful. The free wifi, free coffee, the 12-15 min walking distance to city center and the large clean kitchen were also big pro's. A great hostel to enjoy your stay around Dunedin for a good price!

Disappointed with our stay at Manor House during the RWC. This hostel lacks a lot of things. No atmosphere, staff unfriendly & not helpful, dark, dingy, cold, no toilet roll or handsoap in upstairs bathroom, dodgy heater in room that rarely worked...and so on! When we called for the 'free pick-up' we were told to get a taxi which they paid $5 for (taxi = $10 so we were out of pocket). I would not recommend this hostel, but it served a purpose during the RWC - overall I couldn't wait to leave!

Very cold but great character!!! Could do with more heaters in the rooms. Close to town and staff are friendly!!

Brilliant staff made stay fun. Hostel has a very relaxed atmosphere, and the owner, Nigel is well known about town (so can help out with skipping lines to get into places!!) The only concern I had was over security, front door stayed open most of the time, and the downstairs bathroom window was broken (which would be easy for someone to get in through) Maybe lockers in the rooms would help with security.
