The manager was extremely helpful. He made our short stay there a wonderful one, and really helped us to get to our next destination (as confused tourists, we had a hard time navigating). The hotel was very nice. A little out of the main city, which we thought was great, less noise. It's right across from a fantastic Greek restaurant. The rooms were clean and homey. Altogether, we loved our stay at Manos Hotel, and would recommend it to anyone going to Heraklion.
Don't necessarily accept an "upgrade" to a private single room from a shared dorm if you plan cooking. You might end up on the rooftop terrace in a box-style room with a nice view plus thin walls but with no kitchen and no window (so you have to leave the door open if you want to breathe). The shared appartment was really a good deal. Go for it. The host is a nice person and helpful with directions etc. Thanks to T. for warm and kind reception!
Great location near beach, very clean, helpful staff
Bit of a pain to find when you first arrive but the area and the beach are nice. You could easily see Iraklio and the knossos in a day but if you have a bit of extra time it's worth staying here. A bit quiet off seaon
anybody could enter the hotel without been recognized (2 entrances, open but not always somebody at the front desk). the kitchen equipment had to be totally cleaned before we could use it. the fridge. there was an old tv but it was not connected withe a cable. a good restaurant is very close. the staff was friendly but not very "touristic" (no maps of the area or any thing "what to do" were given by themself)
The owner/manager was kind, extremely helpful with directions, and friendly. The hostel was clean, had plenty of windows with fresh air, and the dorms beds were spaced nicely. I've been in some hostels that were so cramped, that I couldn't breath, but not this one. 5 minute walk to beach. It also had a nice soft mattress... No coils digging into your back. Suggestion to owner: put a sign on main street with hostel name and pointing the direction down ally.
