The location can't be beat - right in the middle of all major areas that any traveler will head to while in HK. Although the security of the hostel itself is good, Chungking mansions (where hostel is housed) is a bit sketchy. If you are traveling w/someone, it should be fine. However, if you are a female traveling solo, it can be a little scary walking thru the mansions. Ignore the stares & walk straight to the elevator. Arrive during the day if possible. You have to go there with a bit of an open mind... space is a premuim in Hong Kong so just be prepared for the size of the room... but once over that hurdle it's actually very nice... very friendly staff and a good location to see all the sights.. would recommend to all! Good location, easy to come and back to airport by bus, near the metro station so we can go anywhere in the city. Helpfull staff. Clean rooms. We arrived at Chung Kin Mansion but our rooms was in the next building. However, we were upgrated to room with 2 double beds instead of 2 twin beds. It were good! :) and the 2 rooms is quite big for us 4 guys. We had a pleasant stay. Just a little bit unsured is there are many blacks outside the building at night. Too small a place.....Once you are inside the hostel, it is clean. The caretaker is a very helpful person and so is Lisa- the owner. Chungking mansions is as usual, creepy. But Maple Leaf provides a bit of nice relaxing escape within that crazy place and the staff is more than helpful! The price is a bit high, but if you're willing to pay it the rooms are clean. Staff could be a bit friendlier, but do their job.
