Our life was in DANGER! Just DO NOT go to this hotel. We had booked at this hotel and they sent us to their "partner" around the corner "Residencial Joao XXI. Suddenly in the middle of the day, WATER started coming out of the LAMP of the roof on top of our BED! I guess there was a problem with the room above. The ELECTRICAL lamp was dripping WATER! I run to the reception and they did not even come to look! Obviously the knew and did nothing! DO NOT GO THERE! I wish I could upload the pictures!

Although the hostel is nice and recommended, the loo is too cramped

Safe area and good value for your money and not too far from main attractions.

Close to the hotel there are some cheap cafe's where one can drink a cup of tea or coffee with some cakes. Also nearby there is an inexpensive grocery. Some rooms in the hotel are a little better than others (we had experienced 4 different romms). Located not so far from the city center. It is hard to find free parking place if you rented the car: all surrounding small streets are normally occupied with parked cars.
