Average hostel in Budapest about quality. For a emergency night, price is perfect! :)

Hostel located in old building almost in a city center. If you don't need something very sophisticated and want to spent as less money as you can it's a place for you.

For some reason there wasn't any pillow in my room, they said they were all stolen... but still was weird and made the bed not as comfortable, for me at least. The location is good for that neighbourhood (near nice restaurants and everything), but it is still far from the "touristy places". The value for money is good since the quality is fine and the prices low, even in high season. There is no real "hostel life" though (compared to a lot of hostels in Budapest). I'd recommend it anyways though

This is the first time i take the time to leave a comment on a hostel, and i had been in many hostel before: this one was the worst i have ever been. I have stayed in about 10 different hostels in Budapest and i have never seen something that poor. Security: everybody can enter with no check at the entrance (which is always open). There is 1 key per dorm, so you cant close it at night. Cleanliness/facilities: everything is dirty, and falling into pieces. Girls/people with valuables: avoid it!!!

ı had stayed at maria hostel when i went to budapeste .i found it hardly.didn't write the name hostel in anywhere .what a stupid.i don't recommend anyone.

Is a cosy nice place.. Staff is very kind and helpful.

The building is old and derelict. The room was converted as a homemade mezzanine which seems quite unsafe. There were not lockers as all keys had been lost. Our room was accessible only through a smelly stale water bathroom. The place is hard to find as there is no sign indicating the Hostel; we had to ask a local shop to find it.

A bit hard to find in the beginning since there isn't any sign outside of the hostel. Really friendly staff.

It's no luxury but everything is there and working. I had a single room for a great price, including a fridge and a sink in the room. Also the staff is very lovely and the location is quite good.

The staff has been quite rude when we arrived and they did not give us towels... The hostel was not very clean, even some doors were broken, with the glass broke... The worst hostel I have ever been.

Very pleased with this Hostel. The owner was extremely kind, helpful and had a warm loving feeling attitude. Really made myself and my Boyfriend feel at home. Cooking facilities was great, quite a big kitchen and a lovely court yard to sit outside and eat your food! The Rooms were Great, very spacious and reminded us of an American apartment, very clean and has a sink in and a fridge so you can store your food. Only negative is that maybe the shower needed a curtain, water got everwhere.

This is an EXCELLENT hostel. It is absolutely ludicrous that anyone could give it a less than exceptional rating. Its location is excellent, it is quite clean, the facilities are old but beautiful, and the staff are EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. Only a complete idiot would be so ignorant as to be unaware of the difference between a hostel and a hotel, and to be unappreciative of what this hostel offers for an excellent price. Don't be fooled by amateur travelers, the Maria Hostel is fantastic!

Okay for backpackers, WiFi was kinda hard to catch in the room, but not a big deal. Good place to stay.

I arrived late and had trouble finding the hostel,in a run down building. The sign for the hostel is an A4 piece of paper with hostel maria written on it.Once checked in i had trouble finding the room initially as the building was so dark then I couldn't open the door (only 1 key per room , the other guests had locked it from the inside so I had to wake them). The glass in the dorm door was all broken, there was a hole in the floorboards by my bed with a 7ft drop. Felt v unsafe and had to leave.

All was perfect!

It was nice and simple, very back packer style... But if your into fancy things... I wont recommend this place... But if your the type of traveler who uses hostel just to sleep i would recommend this place plus it was very cheap... Metro and grocery store nearby..

It's a bit of a chock at first sight, the building is quite old but soon you'll realise that's part of the magic ( it is said it was an old nun's residence) the magic of the balconies where you can chill and listen to some music with others during the night in the open sky area in the middle, it's a great atmosphere! The staff was very kind, since it's a new hostel they are giving their best to give us a nice stay and it was actually, i'ld definitly return.

Good value for money. ...very nice staff!!
