My granddaughter and I had a room for two. It was tiny in the extreme. We could barely turn around. Large window, so good for fresh air. Shower had same hunk of hair in drain the two days we were there. Computer for guests was a nightmare to use. Location very good, a short walk to waterfront, just 5 minutes from train station, market, close by. Kitchen very narrow and long, hard to maneuver when two or more using it. Well stocked..

Very, very clean and convenient. Other guests were quiet and cheerful. An all around good experience.

Thanks for kind staff. Nicely treated. Clean and neat bedrooms and bathrooms. Good location close to the port and old dowtown.

The ratio toilets, showers/people is the best in all the hostels I've been. However, our room was excesivelly small.

A very nice hostel. Very clean rooms with good lockers. Toilets and showers spotlessly clean. Good seating and dining room area and decent kitchen. Great staff! Good coffee machine - very cheap but quality coffee. Good wifi but the one available pc is hopeless. Very good hostel!

What a hostel, amazingly cozy with good facilities and heated floors in the showers! That was a first from me

The positive things about Marken Gjestehus are that it is quite centrally located and that the staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes to recommendations and tips about the region. But depending on which room you get, it can be quite noisy in the evenings/mornings due to traffic.

One of my favorite hostels that I've stayed in. Very nice facilities, rooms are bigger than usual and each person had a full sized shelving unit that locks. Bathrooms and showers were always well stocked and very clean and never had a problem getting right in. Very nice kitchen and eating area. Not the greatest hostel for meeting new people (might have just been the few days I was there) but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

I wish I could have stayed here longer than one night! The whole place is really bright and clean and in such a good location. Literally around the corner from the train station and walking distance from the tourist information centre

As you can see from my review, everything was excellent (pricier than the US for a hostel, but oh-so convenient, clean, friendly

Apart from (some of) the not very helpful staff, the hostel is a good place to stay. very well situated (5 min walk to Bryggen) and quite cheap for a norwegian hostel (even when adding the linen rent). Too bad there's no breakfast included (the option to have it in a neighbouring café is very expensive). Also there are no real lockers in the collective rooms (just tiny ones for your handbag). Which leaves backpacks all over the room : there's no way you'll be able to enjoy the sofa in the room.

Great location. Close enough to walk to the harbor, and the distance from the train station is definitely appreciated. Facilities were clean and well maintained, well stocked kitchen. Lids of storage space in the rooms for bags. Would stay again for sure.

Great location between train station and Bryggen (Bergen's old town), clean facilities (also seamed new)

The hostel is right by the station so not far to walk with your backpack and it's a 5 minute walk to the harbour where there's lots to do. The only down side to the hostel is that it was very family orientated so not many people doing a trip like me but I met some people and over all ha a great stay

Great hostel, stayed here in a 4 bed dorm female dorm room. Rooms were clean and had plenty of space. Good large lockers that could fit your entire pack into. WIFI access in rooms (big thumbs up) and the laundry facilities were great as well. Kitchen is on the small side so get in there early if you plan on eating at the hostel. Only downside was the lack of breakfast, but there are lots of restaurants nearby.
