I can see why this hostel was awarded best hostel in Norway. The place is very clean and tidy, with good and secure rooms. The staff were excellent and the atmosphere was exactly what you want when you are backpacking. My favourite hostel so far.

The Hostel was excellently located for exploring the city. It was a unique building and atmosphere with great rooms, amenities and energy. I traveled to two other Hostels on this trip, and looking back, the Gjestehus was superior to the rest. I would definitely recommend this place to fellow travelers looking for a lovely run for their money.

Really liked this hostel. It has everything you need. Good sized kitchen with equipment. Plenty of showers and toilets. I was allowed to use my own linen. Everything was clean. Free wifi. It is just around the corner from Bergen station and is walking to distance to the centre. A thousand times better than Oslo apartments hostel in Oslo!

All things alright except the reception opening hours. It closed at 4:30pm which we couldn't place our luggage after check out. We stayed at 10 female dorm. There was an strange old lady who remained half-naked all the time and made the room dirty. She slept so early, around 9 pm , and kept staring at us if we made a little noise. It's really an unpleasant experience.

The location of the guest house and the showers - hot with superb water pressure are two reasons I would choose to stay here again. Just two minutes from the train or bus terminal means arriving or leaving with luggage into Bergen is simple and hassle free. I hired their bed linen which was clean and very comfortable.

I ve been in dorm . my bed is so noisy but, there is bathroom in the room. and the kitchen is good, and nice staff, and location is near the bus station. but there are not many people, so If I walked alone at night, I feel so scared.

There is a pub in the same building as the hostel and while I was there the pub set off the fire alarm 4 times throughout the night. Because there is no receptionist after hours it was pretty confusing and we all had no idea what was going on and whether to evacuate or not. But otherwise great hostel with clean rooms and great location. Kitchen a bit dirty and would be good if they provided some board games.

Very nicely situated hostel, only 2 minutes walk from the train station and 5 minutes or so to Bryggen. Room was very clean, kitchen was cleaned daily. Keep an eye on your food in the kitchen, I had food go missing from the fridge and heard other guests complain of the same problem. Rather weird opening hours, make sure you check before you arrive. Overall a very nice hostel, will definitely use it again if I go back to Bergen.

Very clean, excellent location, but lacking in fun! I was there on a Friday and Saturday night and it was very quiet with just a few older people watching tv. Not the best hostel for younger people looking for a good time, but nice if you're looking for a quiet place to relax.

Simple and clean hostel in a great location. The staff are not available outside of 9a-5p, which is not really an issue except the fire alarm went off about 3 to 4 times between midnight and 1a and there was no one in house to deal with it.

Marken Gjestehus is a nice, convenient and clean place. We stayed there three days to visit fjords and Bergen and we loved it. In addition, the team is extremely friendly.

It was a very nice comfortable place. Location was perfect, close to everything. Good kitchen Wifi etc. The only problem was reception opening hours-9-4.30 was a bit inconvenient. Staff were really helpful though when they were there.

My plans were to drop in after closing time. et I managed to be in time and I found everything well arranged. Staff was helpful and flexible. About character, security and location: very good to excellent. Rooms were clean, beds, bed linen, towels very appropriate. The kitchen, however, when I was having breakfast, was more or less a mess. Last night's food on the tables etcereta. Reason: the garbage bin was more than full. Solution: more garbage bins! Dishes, cups and cutlery were on a huge pile. A bit

Just GREAT hostel. Center of the historical Bergen, nice old but cool building (old style elevator is so cute!). Extremely friendly and polite staff. Very secure (card for rooms and keys for lockers inside rooms). Nobody bother you, very quite, big kitchen (oven, microwave and so on). Everything is clean, lots of showers and WCs.

Kitchen was very handy for preparing our own meals. Big lockers in rooms were excellent for security. Heaters in rooms kept us warm. Rema 1000 supermarket was very close by which was great. Good central location. Only negative comment is that half the showers were unavailable due to being painted. Hostel is very clean - saw cleaners every day. Overall a pleasant stay. Tip: not much to do or see in Bergen - recommend one day maximum stay.
