Simply the best hostel that I have ever stayed, and surprisingly it is in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah! Located near the heart of the city, Masada Backpacker offer a very decent hostel. Unlike any other, this hostel gives you a very comfortable feeling until you don't wanna go out to the heat of downtown Kota Kinabalu. You could enjoy all the facilities, include free flow hot milo. The owner who used to be a traveler himself, is very helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend Masada Backpacker!

It's the best hostel I ever stayed in Malaysia. Nice bed, clean room and clean bathroom. The staffs and the boss are very friendly and informative. I had good sleeps there, as the bed is comfortable and the Air Con is running . Good location, near to downtown cities, nite market and mall too. Good breakfasts and Fruits. I enjoyed my time staying there, and definitely will recommend others to stay here. Keep the good work, and hope this hostel can get the top rated certificate again this year.

Masada is located 15 minutes from the Airports and you can reach there for about 30 RM in Taxi. They are also 10 min walking distance to the main market and lively area in Kota Kinabalu where you have numerous food stalls. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had to return to Singapore as I got really sick, though they were not able to refund the next day's rent they did get the tour booking refunded. Thanks and hope to stay with you again next time!

Great location to stay, nearby to F&B, local attraction and walking distance to Sunday Market , Jeselton Ferry. The hostel maintain high standard of cleanliness even is share bathroom. 2 thumb up for coffee and milo machine which can serve us good drink all day long. The bed is comfortable and able to sleep deep and peace, the door is thicker than the walls. Peoples talk in lobby during late night(1am+) can hear inside room, is kind of ignoring when others talking late without consideration.

The staff here were wonderful and always willing to help. Breakfast was more than substantial and having freshly ground coffee on offer was a real bonus. Even better, the 'breakfast' was available all day, with fresh fruit, cereal, cakes and cookies as well as different breads and jams. The common area was comfortable and a nice area to relax but the beds were really THE BEST! Awesome mattresses and soft cotton sheets and covers. And 2 pillows per bed; even in the dorm beds!! I will return!!

Unfortunately there were wild cats fighting outside the room at night, and a group of British girls in the dorm that were even noisier, so I got a very poor night's sleep in the dorms. None of this was the hostel's fault (except for the squeaky bunk-beds) and the customer service was excellent--Shein(?) was nice enough to help me reserve a car, and while I was there I saw them give a free ride to the airport to some other customers! I'd recommend staying, but in a private room!

The location is excellent. Places are clean. Most importantly, the owner is very friendly. He drove us to climb the mountain and waited us for three hours to drive us back to the hostel. Almost every night the owner Peter comes to the hostel and chats with residents in the hostel. The atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable. It's a very impressive hostel.

The staff are super helpful, and the hostel owner is lovely and will go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is excellent. The beds are very comfy and you get 2 pillows! The breakfast is good, and the lounge space is great.

The facilities are thoughtful and pristine which is greatly appreciated. The hostel is well situated and reasonably priced. But was sets it above others and makes it memorable is the warmth and helpfulness of the owners, Peter and kelly - they could not be more genuine or generous.

Very good hostel, good atmosphere, 24 hour staffing and very helpful. Only downside would be that the rooms back on to the shared area so could potentially be noisy, but was no problem when we were there and the staff are always there to keep things quiet.
