Shower not hot. WIFI is acceptable. But it is almost the cheapest hostel in Zermatt.

This is basic on a new basic level ! But for an expensive place like Zermatt it is the best you can get. Very close to the start of the mountain lift and start of many hikes. The hostel is very basic so if you are looking for luxury than dont choose this one.

Be sure to bring your sleeping bag or inlet, since there are only old woolen blankets. It's quite cold, even in August. The lockers are huge, a big plus! Staff was nice, nothing to criticize there. Unfortunately the "luggage room" isn't locked, so everybody could have access to your stuff. There is also a bar and a Restaurant and the staff there was very nice. Location is ok for Zermatt, it's not really in the center, but since it's a small village this doesn't matter.

Great hostel. Cheapest in town and in a very expensive country made things affordable. Great staff, really enjoyed my stay. Thank you!

Not significantly cheaper per person than a double room in a regular hotel/hostel, considering all that you need to give up to stay here. Bring along your backpacker attitude, and lots of it. The beds don't even have blanket covers, and the provided blanket is seriously itchy. Everything is cramped. Cannot adjust water temperature in shower, and the drain works poorly. Can hear everything the other guests do. Otoh, the toilet was rather clean, and wifi worked ok. And the view on Matterhorn

we booked a 8 mix room, in the room we have only one charing point. No one staied at reception desk after 11:00 pm, and the door was not locked at night.

The hostel is good! it just 10 mins away from the train station, it is not difficult to find. let yourself walk along the 'river' in your right hand side then you will find it. The staff are nice, the bar which connect to the hostel is good too. Room and blanket are clean. The toilet and bathroom for male and female at the same time, but there is no problem. You can always find a private space. I stayed in the mixed dorm, and met a lot of friends from different interesting background.

This is the cheapest hostel in Zermatt, but also was my favorite. You definitely get better value than the youth hostel across town, as well as a better location and a better atmosphere The building is older, but the hostel has everything that you need to stay comfortably Lots of younger people (in their 20s) stay here, which gives it a better vibe than the youthhostel (older people and families were staying there). No kitchen is provided, but there is a computer and fridge downstairs

Lockers are too narrow to fit even a small backpack, there's no ladder for the bunk beds so if you get the top you'll need to do some acrobatics or bring a chair to step on, the top bed is quite low so you can't sit up on the lower one without hitting your head, there's only one thin blanket (without a sheet) so be prepared to sleep in your clothes (preferably multiple layers) to avoid freezing. Also I was quite put off by the receptionist when checking in. Otherwise pretty decent.

This place is close to the trails if you're looking for a hike, and they also offer discounts if you want to rent a bike (or skis). It's a really cute place with a mountain cabin feel, the lockers are a bit small but it's really no big deal. The place is staffed by a super friendly crew, with no real faults I'd highly recommend this hostel to you. -The Hostel Poet

The Matterhorn Hostel was conveniently located (Zermatt is not a big town, it's at most a 10 minute walk from the train station), and is cheaper than anything else in town. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and helped us get to the trails we wanted to hike. It definitely isn't luxurious, but it's clean, comfortable, and safe. There isn't a full kitchen, but there's a comfortable living room with tables and chairs, and they are willing to do a minimal amount of food preparation for you.

Good location very close to cable car to matterhorn mountain but there's almost no common areas to meet other backpackers. In addition, is a really cheap place to stay few nights if you compare the prices in Zermatt.

The only thing good about this hostel is it's relatively cheap. Everything else is very sub standard, don't expect too much.

It was much too expensive (518 CHF, 4 nights), we had a small room in the cellar where hardly to beds had place, no cupboard to hang something, it was loud in the nights (next to the WC) and the entrance to the ski room was limited to the opening times of the reception... all in all we would have got a better holiday flat for the same price

about a 15-minute walk from the station, please google map before go there, other wise it takes time to find it. There is no key for the room, but there is a looker. Only a blanket , feel a little bit cold in April. No air conditioner in public bathroom or it's broken, feel cold in April . No place for hanging your clothes in shower place. Hot water for shower is not so hot. 地理位置一般 下火车要先左拐进入商业街 再过河 这样较近。房间无钥匙 但每人都配一个带锁衣柜。对四月来说 一条毯子会有点冷;公共浴室无暖气 无挂钩 水不太热 无法调节。

We had some trouble finding the hostel because there's no buildings on one side of the street for awhile. Take an immediate right after the bridge and keep walking until there are buildings on the right hand side of the street. The hostel was a cool ski bum hangout with cool rooms. Just be aware that the reception has weird hours too. The staff was friendly and there's movies to borrow, but there's no kitchen. We didn't come to ski, just to check out the town and we thought it was decent.

Can't belived why other people has been talking several bad things about the hostel: first: Zermatt isn't too big you can walk 10 minuts from the train station and get the hostel, mt matterhorn is behind the hostel and the vew is pretty good, the staff is pretty amaiable and the rooms are very nice, basics but you need be mindful that is the cheapest option in Zermatt and definitely it is safe. If you are scared booked the hotels with the same build and with the same view and pay 100times more

The Staff was very unhelpful, the hostel itself had the quality of a jail. You couldn't fit any bags in your room and definitely not in the lockers either, while they were too small. Also, we had our lockers and our room on different floors which made it very inconvenient all the time. Showers were very groose and overall it was a nightmare. I've been staying in other hostels around in Europe and I have never seen anything like this. Claustrofobic all the time. Would never stay here again.
