Not a bad place, breakfast was pretty average, needed more power points in the room and a ladder for the top bunk so people didn't have to jump or climb on chairs. Also access to the kitchen would be nice

Came here to stay the night and make base while i did some hiking up the mountain. It was the perfect place! Best price in town. Super helpful and friendly staff. I also made some hiking buddies while staying here! You can get a key for your locker with a €20 deposit (that you get back when you bring the key back). Awesome place. I'd suggest it to all my friends

Great place to stay in Town, without breaking the bank. Good beds, and clean bathrooms etc. For sure the spot in Zermatt if you just need to crash, get good ideas of what to do locally and meet some folks in the process. Ill be back come ski season at some point, you bet! Thanks

I stayed at this hostel twice. Would recommend it if you aren't too picky and on a budget.

This place is pretty far from the center of town but it really doesn't matter since Zermatt is so small. There's nothing really wrong with the hostel. I rated it so low because they don't lock the doors and if you are in the large room they don't lock that either. The lockers are pretty big and will fit almost any bag but you have to pay for the lock; brought my own to use but it doesn't take pad locks

It was a very pleasant experience. Only thing is that there is no place to cook. No microwave in dining room. You have to ask the receptionsit if you wanna use the microwave but they close at 10. Also staff was not very friendly. Other than that good location good wifi signal and clean

People sat in the hall right outside our door and talked on the phone. The blankets were very scratchy and the room was tiny. It was not big enough for three beds. Breakfast was good, but should have been included in the price. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Maybe a good place for young travelers, but not for seniors. Steps were very narrow and difficult to get bag up and down the stairs.

Shower not hot. WIFI is acceptable. But it is almost the cheapest hostel in Zermatt.

This is basic on a new basic level ! But for an expensive place like Zermatt it is the best you can get. Very close to the start of the mountain lift and start of many hikes. The hostel is very basic so if you are looking for luxury than dont choose this one.

Be sure to bring your sleeping bag or inlet, since there are only old woolen blankets. It's quite cold, even in August. The lockers are huge, a big plus! Staff was nice, nothing to criticize there. Unfortunately the "luggage room" isn't locked, so everybody could have access to your stuff. There is also a bar and a Restaurant and the staff there was very nice. Location is ok for Zermatt, it's not really in the center, but since it's a small village this doesn't matter.

Great hostel. Cheapest in town and in a very expensive country made things affordable. Great staff, really enjoyed my stay. Thank you!

Not significantly cheaper per person than a double room in a regular hotel/hostel, considering all that you need to give up to stay here. Bring along your backpacker attitude, and lots of it. The beds don't even have blanket covers, and the provided blanket is seriously itchy. Everything is cramped. Cannot adjust water temperature in shower, and the drain works poorly. Can hear everything the other guests do. Otoh, the toilet was rather clean, and wifi worked ok. And the view on Matterhorn

we booked a 8 mix room, in the room we have only one charing point. No one staied at reception desk after 11:00 pm, and the door was not locked at night.

The hostel is good! it just 10 mins away from the train station, it is not difficult to find. let yourself walk along the 'river' in your right hand side then you will find it. The staff are nice, the bar which connect to the hostel is good too. Room and blanket are clean. The toilet and bathroom for male and female at the same time, but there is no problem. You can always find a private space. I stayed in the mixed dorm, and met a lot of friends from different interesting background.

This is the cheapest hostel in Zermatt, but also was my favorite. You definitely get better value than the youth hostel across town, as well as a better location and a better atmosphere The building is older, but the hostel has everything that you need to stay comfortably Lots of younger people (in their 20s) stay here, which gives it a better vibe than the youthhostel (older people and families were staying there). No kitchen is provided, but there is a computer and fridge downstairs

Lockers are too narrow to fit even a small backpack, there's no ladder for the bunk beds so if you get the top you'll need to do some acrobatics or bring a chair to step on, the top bed is quite low so you can't sit up on the lower one without hitting your head, there's only one thin blanket (without a sheet) so be prepared to sleep in your clothes (preferably multiple layers) to avoid freezing. Also I was quite put off by the receptionist when checking in. Otherwise pretty decent.

This place is close to the trails if you're looking for a hike, and they also offer discounts if you want to rent a bike (or skis). It's a really cute place with a mountain cabin feel, the lockers are a bit small but it's really no big deal. The place is staffed by a super friendly crew, with no real faults I'd highly recommend this hostel to you. -The Hostel Poet

Uncomfortable beds, mouldy shower curtains, no kitchen amenities, rigid checkin , expensive for what is provided

The Matterhorn Hostel was conveniently located (Zermatt is not a big town, it's at most a 10 minute walk from the train station), and is cheaper than anything else in town. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and helped us get to the trails we wanted to hike. It definitely isn't luxurious, but it's clean, comfortable, and safe. There isn't a full kitchen, but there's a comfortable living room with tables and chairs, and they are willing to do a minimal amount of food preparation for you.

Good location very close to cable car to matterhorn mountain but there's almost no common areas to meet other backpackers. In addition, is a really cheap place to stay few nights if you compare the prices in Zermatt.
