Not enough Showers and Bathrooms for all guests when full. Rooms not fresh or perhaps just old and worn out.. Kitchen not big enough when busy. Great location but better options in the area. Love the yard and gardens.

Sorry you didn't find your stay here up to your standards. The number of showers and toilets comply by our council regulations. You stayed when it was super busy, and obviously wanted to use the facilities when others also were. There are 2x kitchens in our establishment, so if one is busier, most people will then use the other. Due to our ideal location and being an independant hostel we are constantly sought by grateful travellers from all over the world wanting a homely atmosphere.

Great friendly staff. Need for more toilets and we didn't find the bathroom/toilets to be private due to wooden shutters. It was also quite noisy most of the time. However the staff were really great and helpful.

Thanyou for your comments. We also desire to provide an extra bathroom/toilet, however in an older building this is not so easy to add, and as we comply with our council regulations, this alteration may need to yet wait. Regarding the shutters, we provide a curtain to pull across the inside for privacy reasons, obviously you did not notice it. Noise from other rooms will transfer from one area to another when the doors get left open in warm weather, and for this problem we do apologise. We shall devise some practible way to lower the noise level, and how this can be implemented. Hope you return sometime to see our continual improvements made due to helpful comments from guests such as yourselves.

Very friendly owner, and we got a free upgrade,which was fbrillant! !Very clean room and kitchen. Location was fab too!

All the staff at Matterhorn South were friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate us! We were very happy during our stay in Wanaka and would definitely go back!
