Hostel close to harbour and amenities. Did have wifi but didn't work in room which was annoying, and luggage room was essential a shelf behind a curtain! Staff were reluctant to return £ for deposit and tried to overcharge for the bus we booked which was frustrating. Other staff were lovely but this spoilt it a little as felt couldn't trust anyone

The room was nice and the breakfast while not included was delicious. Maybe don't try their laundry service though...half my clothes came back not looking like they'd been washed at all, and the other half either had stains on them that were NOT there before or had shrunk. Not impressed.

Nice, clean and a great location, but quite expensive for what you get in return.

Fantastic place to stay. Best local staff of any hostel I've stayed at in Asia. Clean, cheap, great food in bar....highly recommended.

THE STAFF WERE VERY WELCOMING AND HELPFUL. FOOD FROM BREAKFAST TO DINNER WAS DELICIOUS AND VARIED, AND GOOD VALUE COMPARED TO MANY OF THE TOURIST CAFES. GREAT LOCATION IN WALKING DISTANCE TO MANY ATTRACTIONS, BUT NOT NOISY.

Great hostel run by an Australian. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food served downstairs is good and reasonably priced. Would definately recommend.

Fine if you are on a budget and just need a bed to sleep in. However, I'm a little more picky and was so disappointed to open our door and find a stuffy, windowless room with a dirty bathroom and broken toilet. The staff were not helpful and seemed to care very little about us. Appearances are deceiving, and I wish I hadn't booked here based only on the pictures.

We're travelling around Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos on a minimal student budget and we never expected the kind of hospitality or service we received for the little amount we paid to stay at Me Mates Place. The staff are genuine, helpful and lovely. Everyone was really welcoming and interested in hearing about our trip. The Australian owner made the place feel like we were truly 'at a mate's place' or even better, at home. Plus the menu caters for absolutely everyone- I'll be back again.

Although this place was a little above our price range it was well worth it and you got what you paid for. The staff are so friendly, fun and helpful. It is very clean and great food (although slightly higher prices than elsewhere. It was a great place to stay and meet people.

Our first impressions were soured by the man on reception who wanted us to pay up front as soon as we arrived - almost demanding we go to the cashpoint to get the money. We could have done without this after a long bus ride from Ho Chi Minh. We didn't see this man again, so I assume reception wasn't his normal job (thank goodness!) and the regular receptionist was a very cheerful and helpful guy. Room was ok - clean and comfortable. Balcony door didn't have a lock. Cafe food good but pricy.

Good place to stay. Breakfast was not included but very nice options and very good. Our room was very basic and small - I think the pictures from the rooms were taken from another hostel ;-). Little bit out of the center but still ok. Place was very quite during the evening, nice place to relax. Staff was very helpfull. I would recommend the place.

Booked a double room, but when we got there they said they were painting that room so had to put us in a dorm. When I said it was unacceptable they took us to another hotel a few doors down that they said had the same owner. They also didn't have a double available, but had a 4 bed dorm that they gave to just me and my partner. Staff had very little English and struggled to book a bus for me, even though everywhere else I stayed in Cambodia had no issues with this.

Overall a decent hostel, very friendly staff, a little bit out of the way from the central area but only a $1 tuktuk ride or 15-20 min walk (I do walk slowly though!)

Arranged pick up service but we were told no tuk tuk driver was available after we have waited for >30 mins and called. There were a group of ppl broke into our room early morning with keys while we were sleeping.... Clean. Nice location.

Called ahead to arrange free pickup at bus station, but no tuk-tuk was there to pick me up after waiting 30min. I called several times , but got hung-up on several times. Later, got fed up and just took a tuk-tuk myself and asked the hostel staff to reimburse, which they did, but ended up wasting a lot of time. Also ordered a tuk-tuk to take me to airport on departure date at 6am, since there are few on the streets at that time-of course, I wasn't suprised when none showed up. What can I say...
