This was a good hostel. The only major improvement is that there needs to be free wi-fi. Travelers need to be able to check in with family and friends as well as plan out the next portion of their trip without paying dollars for minutes of internet.

located just next to the transit centre at the heart of CBD, very convenient. have lockers for every resident. toilets and bathrooms are clean. big kitchen, nice pool bar to gather with friends. nothing much coming in short really. i like the hostel. the only thing u may dislike is that it's a big hostel with a lot of people (not a problem for me).

Pity that on top of the none too cheap bed price, internet is paid only and you even have to rent kitchenware if you want to utilise the kitchen (unless your traveling with all the gear). A rude awakening to the high cost of living in Australia.

Owner Comment (Show)
Thank you for your comments and we hope you enjoy the rest of your trip around Australia,. The cutlery rental is actually a $10 bond which is fully refunded once it is returned in a clean and complete state. You get a plate, bowl, mug, and silverware with the set. Cooking utensils are provided for use for all guests in the kitchen. We hope this clears up the confusion and hope to see you back when you visit Darwin next.

A party hostel, the bathroom were not really clean and the keycards were not working well. Except these things, nothing really bad to say, I enjoyed my stay there.

Great hostel if you want to party all the time. All-girls floor is a better optio if you don't want to have noise outside your door all night. If you're looking to relax in Darwin this might not be the ideal place, but it will do. Rooms only have four people in them on the all-girls floor and have heaps of room and a storage locker for every person (lock not included).

Well I shared a dorm with girls only. The room all though it had airconditioning was unbearably hot on the bottom bunk. The fan that was fitted in the room was not plugged into the power socket and there was no way of reaching it without a ladder as it was located on the roof. Also the doors to all the dorm rooms even with the added effort of trying to close them slowly made a terrible high noise when closed. So with doors slaming and hot room I got no sleep.

The hostel is really nice and relaxed but the keys need to be sorted out ASAP! I had so many troubles everyday trying to enter my room! The rooms are really basic aswell with just a bed and locker! One member of the staff has got a really bad attitude problem aswell which isn't good for a first impression!

Melaleuca was situated perfectly in the centre of town with easy access to bars and shops. The bar was always packed giving good atmosphere. Security on the door all night . The only downsides were that it is impossibvle to open and close the doors to the rooms quietly; they are extremely loud due to the locking mechanism, and the key card to use the lifts- impossible!! Mine rarely worked so you were stuck in a hot sweaty lift frantically swiping your card! Other than this, excellent.
