The cabin was very basic, containing a couple of bunk beds, a fridge with a broken control and a pedestal fan. The key didn't fit the door lock properly and the verandah door was broken too so I was a little concerned about leaving my laptop inside. Kitchen facilities, showers and toilets were not clean. There were no flyscreens on the windows, so I got bitten by mosquitos at night. Hotels in Newcastle were higher quality and better facilities for the same price. It was near a nice beach though.

Melaleuca is such a nice place, with such a great vibe. Very clean overall, apart from the men's bathroom but it was not the hostel's fault. This is one of those places you just don't wanna leave. They also even have a kangaroo on-site, Josephine, whom is very friendly.

The owner tried to charged us extra 7 dolars just for spending 15 minutes more after the check out. Lack of backpackers spirit man!
