We stayed in the private room, which is sparse and overpriced for what it is. Location is fairly central though and it was fine for a few days.

Messed around a bit when we arrived. Waited about 20 mins to check in only to discover when we got to our room that they had put me and my boyfriend in a female only dorm!! We were given a private room that night but still had to move to another dorm the next day, which was a pain. Other than that, hostel was pretty good, awesome kitchen and great location!

The bathrooms were not very clean. But on the good side, there is an excellent free breakfast, which includes pancakes and cereals. The staff was really nice and helpfull, sometimes a bit slow but really helpfull to try to solve your problems.

Most of Melbourne's sight seeing places are near Flinders Station, so being a little bit north can be a downside. However, the city center itself is quite small so I don't think the distance is a problem. There are a lot of people staying at this hostel but somehow it isn't as friendly as you might think it would be. It's like a large apartment at New York. Nobody really knows each other. I guess it's inevitable since there are so many tourists in Melbourne.

like so many other big city hostels, but free pancakes in the morning and good rooms.

Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Keycard access to rooms and bathrooms. Lots of young people to hang out and drink with, bar on first floor always has drink specials. However kitchen is always crowded. Overall a pretty standard hostel. Don't expect much and you won't be surprised.

Good package (bed & breakfast) for the money, as well as a good location. Close to a supermarket & busses and trams.

The rooms have no air conditioning and a only a tiny fan. The only window was to a closed atrium so there was no fresh air. It was so hot it was unbearable. Wifi also didn't work and the staff weren't great.

The staff's characters where interesting, entertaining, humours, and understanding. However, the facility is not meeting health guidelines and their mattress have not received adequate lice treatment. My whole body ended up with bit marks all over and found it difficult to stop scratching. I think that the management and staff at the facility need to engage in planning on how to battle the lice found in the mattress and the carpets in the bedroom. 2nd problem lack storage space in b'rooms.

The location of this hostel is good, but the fact that there is a bar/club downstairs isn't very nice. You will try to sleep at night but you will feel the bass inside your body until 3h am. Also, there is a plenty of people, which mean that there is noise in the morning because of people who wake up earlier and there is noise during nightime because of party people...

This hostel was great! Free Internet and free amazing BBQ on Wednesday night. Good atmosphere and pretty easy to meet people. A short walk to town but good location too. An airport shuttle would be a good idea.

All in all I had a good stay in the Hostel. The rooms and common areas are clean. The breakfast is free and u have a lot of options and it is a good price for a night for that location (pretty central). The only negative point was the atmosphere.. u come into the Hostel and the kitchen and common area is next to the reception, its not really comfortable and u dont get to meet people that easily. Also its always busy at the reception and u have to wait soo long, staff is friendly but a bit slow.

Not a good place for a solo traveller. Would be great if I was in a group as this place has zero character or atmosphere. The reception doubles up as the kitchen and tv room and main communal area so is always very busy and very loud. I didnt find anywhere where I could chill out. The place does seem to be very clean and is in a great location. However, if you dont like long corridors with loads of rooms sprouting off them then this place is not for you.

Thanks for you comments. Our hostel offers one of the largest hostel kitchens in Melbourne, a reading room, TV room, large sunroom all with tables and couches for guests to enjoy and relax. Reception is one L1 in the communal area to give guests easy access to the staff for information and assistance. Housekeeping staff clean rooms, bathrooms and all other common areas daily. I wish the doors to the rooms didn't make so much noise when closing. There is no way to close the dorm room doors without a loud click/slam that reverberates through the room/hall. Also, it would be nice if the bathrooms were cleaned a little more often. The boys toilets were always a mess. Free unlimited wifi internet would be a huge plus. All your computers in the dining room sat virtually unused throughout my stay.

Thanks for you comments We have recently oiled all the doors to try to reduce the noise made when opening and closing them. The bathrooms are cleaned twice a day but unfortuntaly not all the guests are respectful enough to others to clean up after themselves. We hope to bring in free wifi very soon but until then all guests get a hour free internet when they check in. Regards M.I.B Staff

Good hostel..rooms are average, large kitchen and dining area, which also was the lounge area. A lot of people staying there so hard to talk to others if a solo traveller. Great location in the CBD, with an Aldi across the road!

Me and my family were turned down on arrival to your hostel, because of our two daughters age 15 and 17. The hostel had an alcohol on the premises and didn't accept the children even accompanied by their parents. Luckiely we found another place to stay which was much better and for the same price. We would like to claim our deposit of US$23.69 back as we were not informed about your policy before.
