All in all, not too bad. For the money, I give it a thumbs up; I'd stay again.

The location of the hostel was good, some blocks away from the CBD of the city. The breakfast was OK and the staff was very friendly and helpful in all the enquiries we had. They also gave clean linens to set the bed. What MIB has to improve is to try to ventilate the areas because it smelled very bad and the lasts day we stayed as it was weekend we couldn't sleep because the bar played the music too loud. And there aren't many computers available.

Kind of a "party hostel" in my opinion... was fairly noisy on Friday night.... So depending on what you are after that is good or bad!

Not enough chill out areas - the reading room was a box of a room with a couch! The room I was in was located right beside door to kitchen/living room and was extremely noisy. Staff were fantastic and there was always someone cleaning toilets and rooms. Though I found the building lacked character.

Staff said one thing one night and another the next day. Fuming about that. Kitchen was large but disorganised. Bedrooms had everything you needed and the bathrooms were pretty dated. Also up the wrong end of town! Try and get somewhere more central if you want to do more in Melbourne!

This place needs some painting and maintenance, it would look much better. I stayed there on St Patrick night and did not feel safe as the hostel was full and there were a lot of drunk people and apparently not enough staff to control them. There are also no windows at all in the hostel so you can't even see outside. The location is good and the breakfast is OK.

The hostel was great. Not too noisy, In a brilliant location, and you get free breakfast every morning!!! ONly thing i can complain about was the once or twice the showers werent too hot, but i suppose thats because there are so many people using them, so its understandable. Thanks MIB!!!! (I am still staying here for longer)

David on reception was exceptional. After my first visit to the counter, he remembered my name, answered any questions, was helpful, polite. A 5-star asset to your team. Hostel was ok, my food bag was stolen, and the massive fridge broke down and was unable to be fixed for several days over the weekend. The smell from the rotting food was horrible. But the travellers that I met at that hostel were awesome :) Would recommend if you are travelling with a friend and like loud common rooms.

Bathrooms were disgusting (even though they were cleaned everyday so that may have been the people staying there). Room was ok, a bit small. Hallways smelt of feet and goon. Common area was very crowded with people drinking so very difficult to find a space to eat dinner. Location was excellent - right in the middle of town pretty much. Lots of loud people outside the entrance smoking and drinking. Bed cover really stank but it was changed as soon as I complained.

Without offending the staff of the hostel, that I'm sure makes their best to give a good service, I really hated the atmosphere of the place! I was really glad to sleep there because it's in the perfect city center but preferred to spend all my day outside. Just by my point of view: I you have alternatives beware from there.

i only stayed at the hostel for 1 night however i found the "clean sheets" to have hair and stains on them, not what i expect. The rooms were very hot and stuff although1 wall fan was provided this did not do much to cool the room and circulate the air. This seemed only effective if you stood under the fan and no where else in the room. Washooms were clean and acceptable

Location: Just a short walk to city and Vitoria Market. Aldy supermarket just across the road. Car rentals along the same road. Bottle shops all around. Rooms: I stayed in a 2 private room. Room was clean and big enough. try not to leave the widow open at night as it get pretty noisy. Set up: Room by card key, differently coded for male and female wash room. Free bread and cereal breakfast.

First time stay in a hostel, so a bit hard to compare. But a good basic hostel, clean as necessary, and good value for money. Only real complaint our room (3rd floor) got really hot and humid on hot days, air conditioning highly recommended to book again. otherwise excellent location and not a bad place to stay.
