Great location but not the hostel pictured and advertised on the website, disappointing from that perspective.

Very well located, very good value for money. Nice staff and clean facilities. I definitely recommend this hostel and I will stay there again when I come back to rio!

The word I'll use to begin this review is amateur. Firstly, the website should definitely be changed or at least, updated. They show some gorgeous pictures of a mansion with a huge swimming pool and when you arrive there, it's a tiny old house with no space for everybody. The bar is small, hot.. has one porch that can only be used till 10 pm, but inside it's as hot as the hell. Congrats to Vinny and Michael, wonderful staff, but it's not worth the money at all.

I really enjoyed my stay at mellow yellow, it is well located just a few blocks from the beach and close to Ipanema and all major attractions. Vinny at reception knows his city and is always willing to help, thank you! I will come back soon!

This place is AMAZING! Located a few blocks from the beach (probably a 5 minute walk) the hostel feels secluded but it is so close to the hustle and bustle! If you can't decide what you want to do, don't worry, the staff will take care of that! I was able to meet awesome people from all over the world with the "community environment". Very clean and comfortable. The staff made me feel like part of the family! Will definitely stay here on my next visit!

You can not find a better bang for the buck. Tucked away on a quite residental street no one would ever guess that this family owned & operated hostel was in the middle of all the action. You need only walk a block or two to find several bars, shops, cafes & just blocks from the beach I was pleased to find the hostel clean & organized. There is always a member of the staff on hand if you have any request. The shared enviroment allowed me to make several new friends from all over the world.

Nice place. Bedroom was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was also clean. Breakfast was good but basic (compared to the great breakfasts I've had at other Brazilian hostels). Staff was helpful and friendly. A bit pricey...but so is every hostel in Rio it seems.

I stayed one weekend on this hostel and it was amazing! Cool staff, clean rooms with big lockers, pleasant public areas (such as the porch, bar and television room) and a good breakfast. It's located in a calm and safe Copacabana street, and the atmosphere is great, there are many friendly and fun people in the hostel. I'd recommend this for sure!

Most horrible hostal I stayed in during my holiday in Brasil. Staff did not know a lot about Rio. They gave wrong or unsufficient information. Dirty facilities. They organised trips for us "everything included", afterwards you still end up paying extra for transport etc. The website mentiones that it has got a swimming pool but they don't. Apparently this is another mantion but this is not clear at all from the website. The owner is incredible rude. Spoke with her, horrible e.xperience.

It is very hard to evaluate this hostel. The staff is very friendly and there is a good atmosphere in the air. If you wanna party... this is a good place to be! The rooms are ok and the breakfast is good. BUT: When I say that the stuff is good, I am actually talking about the girls who work there!! The female owner is rude to the guests and the staff and one of the owners sat drunk at the reception shouting like he had the Tourette Syndrom! Trips are expensive and bad organized!
