The hostel itself is fantastic, with excellent staff working there who are more than willing to help with anything you ask of them. The room itself was the smallest room I have ever seen in my life, quite literally a 6x8 tool shed that has been converted into a "cottage" and a bed put inside. We had to squeeze around the bed just to walk since the space was so small. So if you are looking for a room to relax in, this is not ideal. The value for money is not, but Melville itself is cute.

The proprieter smoked. He smoked in his own quarters but on the first time at Melville's, our room ,which was located in the main building ,smelled of smoke which was unpleasant for us as we are non smokers. On the second time, the hostel was much cleaner and our room smelled fresher and the main building still had a slight smokey smell but it was not bothersome at all.
