The guys in the front were friendly and nice. However, there is a clear sign that states no smoking. They smoked in the lobby and every where that was shared space. It was freezing cold with no heat. Be ware of this. I understand this place is super cheap, thus you get what you pay for.. thus i put average for value for money. I don't want to be harsh, but this was probably one of the worst hostels i've been to and i've been to over 30 countries...

The guys there were great. Very helpful, and not pushy about tours, etc., though they did offer a good value tour that I took. The place is really dingy and quite dirty though. Not sure if I would stay there again. Good price, location and staff, but dreary atmosphere.

I had a very short stay in Cairo, but the guys at Meramees helped me make the most of it. Achmed (the driver) picked me up at the airport and helped me get around town. Location was great, the Egyptian Museum was an easy 5 minute walk. Room and bathroom were spotless with plenty of hot water.

Very friendly, but very cold and the rooms very poorly furnitured - no lamps to read, just one possibility to switch off the light besides the door far from the bed. no possibility to hang up the coat or jacket or towel, perfect internet.

I have enjoyed the days in Egypt using the tour offed from this hostel! I left my passport in this hostel, but a kind staff sent it to me by quick and safe way. I really appreciate it, thank you! And also I enjoyed new year here with many nice customer and staffs. When I come back to Egypt, I will use here again.

A hostel with a great location, easy walk to the Tahrir Square Metro Station! They have complementary WiFi & breakfast; though they are mediocre!

I have travel all over Egypt and never found a better place to stay than Meramess Hotel, the guys: Ahmed. and his brother Mohamed make my experience very comfortable, like spending holidays in your best friend house, i travel to Luxor and Aswan and i was dying to come back to Cairo to hang with the guys and feel at home again, definitely i do recommend this place young and old!!He viajado por todo Egipto y no pude encontrar otro mejor lugar que Meramess hotel, como pasar tiempo con los amigos!!

my friend lost his wallet and the staff went out of their way to help him find it. also, staff is young, friendly, fun, and cool. great location and good, safe, fair tours offered from meramees. a very comfortable stay! love the old-city feel with the wrought-iron elevator, high ceilings, and crown moulding. reminscent of old cairo, i'd imagine.

Very fun hostel! The staff are awesome!! It has a bit of a "rustic" feel that people may not like, but we had a wonderful time :)

The front desk staff are very approachable, and knowledgeable. The room was very comfy and clean. Great value for Cairo, with a very accessible location. I was there during some unrest in Tahrir Square, so perhaps that's why it wasn't all that fun. If the hostel was busy, I would imagine it would be great times. Free WIFI was perfect for keeping in touch.

Meramees is very friendly, comfortable, convenient and affordable. I loved staying here and would definitely recommend it. It is five minutes' walk to the Cairo Museum, the staff are always around to help with questions and directions, they've got balconies in many of the rooms that look out onto the street...Especially big thanks to Mustafa and Sharif for all their help throughout my stay, from organizing taxis to writing down directions in Arabic to making sure I got some much-needed coffee...

Great place located central to anything you want to do in Cairo. Staff was excellent and knowledgable for all areas of Egypt, not just Cairo. They also were more then happy to arrange transport for us to see all the sites. I highly recommend it here.

A nice hostel in a convenient location, just round the corner from Tahrir Square, with very friendly and helpful staff. They organised a great trip for me to Luxor and Aswan, with transport, accommodation and tours of the key sites - couldn't have done better myself. Definitely worth talking with these guys before booking anything elsewhere in Egypt.

Meramees was very helpful, the atmosphere was very laid-back and lively. I loved the breakfasts every morning, the rooms were neat, the bathrooms were nice, it's located really close to Tahrir. In all, I think we stayed in the best Cairo hostel! :) Thanks to all of the staff, especially Sharif. We had a blast!
