Don't stay here. The staff need to be fired. When we were checking in we thought there was something odd about the two staff on duty. It's not that they were unfriendly - they were actually rude and bordering on hostile. When we got to the room my friend phoned down to reception for the internet password only to be told that there was no wifi. My friend, who is fluent in Mandarin expressed surprise at this and was told if we didn't like it we could leave, so we did - immediately.

A youth hostel great if you want to be in quiet atmosphere. Cleanliness is great. It is a pity there is only a small shared room where you could meet people. But actually we can say this youth hostel looks more like a real hotel with some good prices.

The bathrooms are really old. The glasses in the bathroom could be removed - a bit dirty.

Good place to stay if you are passing thru Kunming to take a flight. There's a big shuttle bus that doing the connexion every 30 minutes for 35 yuans (bus #6, in front of the big Kunming hotel, 5 minutes walk from the hostel). The room was very clean. Staff doesn't speak english, only the owner.

Very hotel like hostel. Great private room with a large bed. Shared shower and toilet were unclean. Mington alley is a gret street to find tasty and inexpensive snacks.

This hotel is cheap and the rooms were large and clean. However, it is a hotel, not a hostel, and any amenities in the room that you use will be charged to your bill. We stayed here one night during Spring Festival and were disappointed with the poor service. When we asked the receptionist where we could get food, she said "everywhere is closed" and didn't provide any suggestions for any way to find food at all. The receptionist the next day was much nicer but spoke no English at all.

It is a nice place. The beds are a little hard, and it's much more like a hotel than a hostel, but it's a nice, inexpensive place to stay.

This was not a great place. My room had few, ugly furnishings and one light in the ceiling so dim I could hardly see by it. The toilets were on another floor of the building... and they were all squat toilets. For the price I expected something like a complementary toothbrush and a tiny tube of toothpaste. In fact, they charge for anything like that. At least one of the desk staff hardly spoke English at all.

The hotel--not a hostel--is, yes, very clean. But, even though I speak Chinese, I was frustrated by the total lack of any tourism-related support--not even a print-out or real map. When I asked for one, I was told to trek across town to the train station to find one!! The only guest computer was unreliable. Tour(ism) information? Zero. I was handed some tour company's business card when I asked. When I described what a hostel is, I was told this is a "hotel". OK. Then don't advertise here.
