Super nice little family run hostel. Staff were awesome, as is the place itself. Loads of character with a really friendly, laid back vibe. Kitchen is dead cool. All in all a great place, can't believe it's the cheapest hostel in Mission, it's BEAUT.

It was OK. But there where only boys living there, so we did not like it that much. And not so clean. Just average.

This was our first hostel in Aus after arriving in cairns and it was really nice. It's not a party place but it is close to a few nice bars and it is right on the beach.

Really nice, cosy hostel. Has just been fully renovated and having a brand new dorm was awesome. Right on the beach and close to all the bars but REALLY quiet and relaxing which was great for me!

Some of the staff are good and helpful but most of them just sit around the hostel all day and take up the facilities that are meant for the customers. Hostel is small and not very clean, kitchen in particular is pretty disgusting.

This is a nice hostel, although it was damaged early this year by cyclone Yasi, but it is virtually back to normal now. I had a good time there, but i did find that there were just as many people working there as there were travelling!

Mission Beach Retreat is the perfect place to relax and regain some much needed downtime. With friendly staff who are willing you help you out with just about anything you need. Just 2 minutes from the beach and shops its a great location. A great place to stop if you are interested in White Water Rafting too. A recommended stay.

A brilliant stay at Mission Beach Retreat. A lovely welcome from the staff which gave us the taste of things to come. A fabulous position - you can see the sea from the kitchen window and it takes just a minute to walk to some lovely restaurants. Many thanks for a lovely weekend!

This is a hostel that requires at least 3 overnights stays to really sink in. If you are looking for a flashpacking-nice-place-to-sleep-and-party-place this is not the right thing for you. quite dirty kitchen, some of the staff helpful, others kind but stressed out. a lot of people in the dorms, but spacious, few places to store luggage. kind of dirty bathrooms, but pretty ok. REALLY CLOSE TO BEACH!!! 1 minute walk at the most! good informationcenter nearby!

The friendliest hostel I've seen yet. Laid back and easy going, but if you're looking for something to do, there'll aways be somebody who's up for a campfire on the beach.

Small hostel in the middle of the 'towncentre'. Booked a room for 9, got one for 10. Really loud roommates made our stay even worse. Except for the beach, absolutely nothing to do. Shuttle to Woolworth and Greyhound pick-up is a plus.

The staff at Mission Beach retreat were excellent. We checked in later than normal and special arrangements were made for us. They were always there to help and offer advice about the surrounding area. The hostel was only a 30second walk to a beautiful beach; perfect location for a chilled couple of days.

Free shuttle busses picked up and dropped off at the bus station & supermarket, also dropped us at the start of walking trails at times to suit us which was very handy. Only downfalls were kitchen bins were full on a few occasions & wifi wasn't free.

It would be nice with a locker or security box, so you can lock your valuable stuff somewhere, so you wouldn't have to carry them around all the time. Since the doors are never locked, and there are no windows, it is too easy for strangers to go in and steal stuff.

Mission Beach Retreat was unlike any other hostel I have stayed in. Everyone there, both staff and guests, were incredibly nice, relaxed and friendly. I really felt like the staff wanted me to have a great time, from their really bubbly and helpful busdriver, to the really informative and friendly managers. The location is ideal, right in the heart of town, close to all the restaurants and bars and the skydiving office. The hostel itself is really small, which explains the great atmosphere.
