Monkey Bay Backpackers is situated in the heart of Ballito Village on the Dolphin Coast in Southern Africa. We are 112.5 meter from the main beach as the crow flies and a stones throw away from all shops, restaurants and night life. A 25 minute drive to Durban Football Stadium ( Moses Mabida ).
The lodge is tastefully decorated in a rustic and artistic way giving our guests the true African experience.
Thanks to loads of indoor and outdoor space, nothing will cramp your style during your stay.
In fact,the relaxed atmosphere is a little addictive. Dont be surprised if you end up staying longer than planned.

Accommodating 22 people Monkey Bay Backpackers embraces the laid-back ocean based lifestyle everyone dreams of. Who can take life too serious in the subtropical weather with the warm Indian Ocean, masses of banana palms and miles of sandy beaches.
This small and friendly backpackers is located in a cheerful old house renovated to the owners own creative style. It has a massive garden with two braai facilities behind the house where we build roaring fires. You can chill on the hammocks, or take an outside shower.
Our deck in front of the house is perfect for relaxing in the sun and also equipped with a braai facility. So braai here and convert your time spent with us into the best memories ever made!
The unit is self catering with all the utensils needed to DIY your own bacon and eggs for breakfast.
After doing doing our marketing Trip in South Africa we have found that we are absolutely on of the best backpackers in South Africa.
Cleanliness is our motto and friendliness our game.
Please Note: We are the closest backpacker to the new King Shaka airport in Durban and that we collect from the airport

The hostel lives from its uniqueness and craziness of the owner who really tries to make your stay at that hostel an unforgettable memory. He offers help wherever he can, gives you lifts to the city and organises shuttle transfers to the airport, etc. The hostel itself is a colorful, cozy giving you the opportunity to socialize at the bar or braai area or to spend time on your own on one of the many couches on the facilities. I had a very nice time :)

This property has a 1 day cancellation policy.Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay.
Things to Note
Standard terms min 1 nights, 50% non refundable deposit - our confirmation booking form will be emailed to you with our banking details. Balance payable one week prior to arrival and cancellations to be 50 days before arrival. Refunds will be considered by Management.
