Monteverde Backpackers is a good place to stay in Monteverde. It is close to the bus station and all the restaurants and travel agencies. The staff is really nice and helped us speak some spanish. also they showed us a sloth and its baby right in front of the hostel :)

Very Nice place the staff was helpful. They evev pointed out the mama and baby sloth in a tree nearby. I also liked the location next to a big super market

Great little hostel. Alonso is a legend and very helpful in booking tours etc. Bob the dog is also a champion! Highly recommend!

The shared kitchen needs a good cleaning, hot water, clean dishcloths, refrigerated cleaned out ( smelled terrible) trash cans were beyond fithly. The bed sheets were so old they were thread bear with no elastic remaining. You ended up sleeping on the plastic mattress

Alonso is a very nice guy. He takes care of his backpackers and very helpful. The fisrt night that I arrived there I was hangry and he offered me his lunch and he ordered another one. Isn't nice !!!!

Great location, 2 min walk to town and quiet at night, no partying! Kitchen was ok and bathrooms are private to each room. Bryan was super helpful and really adds to the place. Would definitely stay there again!

This hostel is very small which makes it very familiar and cozy. Brian was very nice.

good hotel, excellent staff

When the hostel states 'feels like a cozy home' they weren't wrong. Alonzo is very welcoming and helpful. It's very easy to look into and get info about all tours. Breakfast is great too and kitchen was always clean.

Host Alonzo is the best host ever. Always willing to help you out. Breakfast is awesome: fresh fruits are cut for you, cereal are available, but best of all is raw eggs are there for you to cook. Super close to grocery store, which is awesome when Alonzo fires the grill and lets you cook on it! Super friendly place. Made some friends there that will remain such for a long while. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS PLACE!!! Potential ways to improve: add lockers (but dorms can be locked), upgrade bathrooms.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Alonso, was very helpful in suggesting things to do. The breakfast is 'make your own'. The ingredients are layed out every morning and you just help yourself. The overall atmosphere was extremely friendly. Alonso went out of his way to look for accommodations for us in Tamarindo when we couldn't find any. He was a genuinely nice guy. Overall it was a great experience.

The kitchen could be substantially improved with a small investment and the lockers are very small, but those are minor issues. Overall, this place is well worth the money; hot showers were nice, the grocery store next door was convenient, the complimentary bananas, eggs, toast, etc. for breakfast was delightful, and the host playing his guitar and singing was charming. I would definitely stay there again!

Small and cosy hostel. The owner was very helpfull with planning our trips in Monteverde as well as the rest of our holiday. The free breakfast was good: eggs, bread, cereal and fresh fruit. The only thing missing was a dinning room/table. Very nice hot showers!!!

We really liked staying here. It's like a cosy little home with good kitchen facilities and a decent free breakfast. The rooms were cosy and clean and showers hot. Staff were nice and helpful with tours and transport. Definitely recommend
