I absolutely loved my stay here! There's a grocery store right around the corner where you can buy anything you'll need to cook for yourself in the kitchen provided at the hostel. Also, Alonso was more than helpful in helping us organize tours and transfers. He was patient, knowledgeable, friendly and funny! I can't wait to go back! It's in a great part of Santa Elena, near banks and shops. Although it's a tourist spot, you don't feel overwhelmed with too many people.

The nightlife is zero. It's clean and in a good location and everything, but if you're looking to hang out at night at your hostel, you're in the wrong place.

Everything was ok, room was average but clean. Only bad note was one of the staff members tried to stitch us up , we booked to go zip lining through friends at another hostel but when we told the member of staff at this one he tried to make us book it with him saying otherwise we would have to pay more when we got there, which we said no it was fine as our friends had booked it. When we got to the zip lining he had called them up an explained we where coming and shouldn't get a discount!

Great hostel! Alonso, the owner, is very welcoming and helpful. Knows about everything there is to do in Monteverde, and has tried it all so he can give firsthand advice. Definitely book things through him. Breakfast was cereal, bread with PB/jelly/cheese, great fruit. Bring a lock for the lockers. No locks on the doors (but a security guard all night), so you have to use lockers. I would wholeheartedly recommend Monteverde Backpackers! Our cheapest hostel yet, and our favorite.

This is a nice quiet hostel, within walking distance of everything in town. The dorm room is simple but clean. Private room upstairs was very cosy with nice bright windows. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There are no keys for the room so bring a padlock for the lockers.

The bathroom was a little gross and the shower water would often run out of hot water before you ended the shower. But otherwise its a great location and the staff was very helpful. Nice perk to have breakfast included.

Spartan but cheerful place. OK when it comes to any port in a storm. And Monteverde is plenty stormy.

The hostel was the best we stayed at in Costa Rica. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and quiet hours at night for those early morning backpackers.
