beware of lockout hours: from9am-4pm, they will try and make you leave for the day. I was a bit sad that I had to bathe before 9am. Other than that, excellent hostel

When my husband made this reservation, he was given a reservation that included a 3/4 person room with private bath and toilet. So the price seemed very reasonable. What actually was, turned out to be a room but the toilet and bath area did not work.In fact the toilet that was supposed to be there was dirty, and unusable. There was "NO HEAT" in any part of the building except the main community room on the 1rst floor.(No rms.there)The only way to rooms is a narrow spiral staircase.Elevator/unusable

We are sorry that we have only "shared bathroom" as you can see in the room type table. No one can book a room with private bath and toilet.

Unfortunately, I didn't know that I had booked a room without heating. But on that floor there wasn't any running water which was a little disturbing. Staff was very friendly and helping.

This place has a good location but thats all it has going for it. Was a very cold place, no heaters in rooms and when I asked for one all I got was a hot water bottle. It was also right next to train tracks with bells ringing every 20 mins so sleep wasnt quality. The toilets and showers on our floor were out of action and have been for some time looking at other reviews. Owner would not allow me to use a heater in the living room during the day when it was cold. Not good enough.

As you can see in the notice of Basic 3bed male dorm, the room is "a trainview room without heating. If you are sensitive to sound of trains and cars, or if you need air-conditioning, please choose 4-bed dorm." And as you can see in the desription of our hostel, "check-out 10:00 (10:00-16:00 lock-out )"

Two major flaws with this hostel. No running water on the same floor as the room was the first one. The second was that the heating in the room was virtually non-existent. The temperature in the room was about 4 degrees celsius when we woke up in the morning. Made the whole stay pretty unpleasant. Would definitely not go back to this hostel again.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The hostel is near the train station but not noisy at all. Bedding set is good and warm.

Very good location side to the train/bus station and good isolation (no noise). There\'s a lock-out during the afternoon but since usualy you visit, this isn\'t a real issue. Good place to start visiting Nagano. (city, skiing or monkey park and you can reach Matsumoto-jo quite easily by train)

Only issue was no locks on the dorm rooms, but there were lockers to use downstairs. Really close to the train station, rooms were warm, volunteer staff was great! Lent me their own personal umbrella for the day and made me hot chocolate at night! Thanks Sachiko and Ben :) Hope to see you sometime in the future!

It took about 15 minutes for my friend and I to figure out how the heater work. Luckily she was Japanese or I would have had no idea how it worked. I wish the staff would have showed us how to work the heater.
