Great value for money, in a good location near the old Arbat and the subway. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in a double room, that looked exactly like the one in the pictures and had a tiny ensuite bathroom. Cleanliness was similar to a student dorm, but that would be the only negative. I would definitely recommend Home Hostel to other low-budget travellers.

If you want something really cheap, it's a good choice (nice rooms, nice living room, good location, very central, but hard to find at first), but there were some issues like the shower, which had only cold water (I think that the they have warm water normally, but it was broken and nobody told us about it), wifi worked really badly, and staff was not very helpful. There were also some permanent guests that broke the hostel atmosphere. Also, there was very little space for luggage in our room.

The map and direction should be clearer, especially you should inform us that Park Kurltury station is easier to get to the hostel. Improve the smell in the toilets.

A more detailed map for the location.

The hostel caters for long stay men, which would be fine if they were friendly. We could barely raise a good morning from them in the kitchen. This affects the atmosphere. The staff were very friendly.

The stay was great! The hostel looks good, clean, cozy, real nice for this price. The location's good enough, 5 minutes to underground, like 7 minutes to the main street.

Staff were excellent and really helpful! Only complaints were the location and cleanliness... Bathrooms could probably use a thorough cleaning and had a smell. The walk to the city center is at least 30 minutes, but you can walk to the metro station in about 10 minutes and it's only a few stops away.

Really didn't like this place. No atmosphere. Tidy bad bathrooms. Lockers than need to be rented. Too many live in guests. The staff were however friendly and helpful. Besides the staff and it's pretty good location, not a good choice

All was great. The staff is cool, the location's comfortable. It took like 5 minutes to reach the Arbat street. 25 minutes to the Kremlin. A lot of shops, the museum of Moscow right in front of the hostel. An additional taxi service which is very smart.

Staff is AMAZING! Super helpful all the time, very accesible. I was very happy with the staff, I felt I was living not in a hostel but with a russian family. Congratulations guys you were amazing and very nice EVERYTIME!. Hostel might seem a bit interesting from outside but its ok and the distance to the metro station is very close and accesible.

Older than appears in photos, bathrooms are very cramped, common space is small. Nice

everything was good enough. the prices for both dorms and private rooms are quite normal (especially considering the great location in the center). my room was clean and i spent a safe night there. big kitchen+big living room where you can hang around with other guests, have meals, watch tv and so on... staff is friendly and speaks good english.

it was not my first time there and definitely not the last one))))) i think Moscow Home Hostel is the best place to stay in Moscow - close to the center, comfortable and friendly!

Very dirty. I don't think it was cleaned often and staff seemed like they couldn't be bothered with us

This is a hostel that mostly caters to Russian nationals rather than international travelers, which I wasn't aware of. Also, in the larger mixed dorm areas it is against hostel rules to consume alcohol, which was quite a bummer. Toilets were often covered in urine and when I wanted to arrange for a taxi to the train station, two different staffers suggested that I "just take the metro," even though I just got finished explaining that I have way too much luggage to do that.

Moscow Home-Hostel is catered towards Russian-speakers. If you're looking for English-speakers, I recommend you look elsewhere. The staff is very friendly (if you can speak Russian) and the rooms met my expectations. It was located not too far from the metro, so you'll be able to get around easily.

The photos on at the homepage are completely different than the real hostel. Neither the photo of the building looks like the real hostel, nor do the photos of the rooms. The hostel is in an old ugly and dirty building. The rooms are dirty, the beds are old (not like the photos), the bathroom was not clean at all and the kitchen is disgusting. It seems they took the photos in a completely different building. In summertime it is so hot in the rooms, I imagine in winter it is cold. Very bad hostel
