We visited in low season (April-July) so it definitely wasn't necessary to book a place in advance. Very quiet little homestay that was clean and tidy, near the beach which seemed to be the best thing to do/ see in Colombo. My main complaint is that it was far more expensive than neighbouring properties. Mt Lavinia is out of the way from the airport and the fort (including the train station) but tuk tuks are cheap (don't pay more than 400 rupees to get into the fort!) so its not a problem.

Nice homestay in Mount Lavinia. A much better place to stay than Colombo. The woman is lovely, the room is good (own bathroom and even wifi and tv). There's a nice kitchen and the beach is close by.

It's not so far to the international airport, it's clean, there is a cute beach and a station railway very close. In the house I met very nice other travelers to spend the evening with. I recommend!!

Priyani is very hospitable and helpful. We booked two double rooms, one of which didn't have a window but were good sizes with shower rooms attached. A good location very close to the beach which has good restaurants, but far enough away from the noisy train track. Security conscious with a padlock on the front gate as well as on the room doors. A/c extra if required.

Excellent welcome late at night instead of 4pm.....missed short connection in Doha. Location instructions sent were essential for tuk tuk driver.

This homestay is in a great location in Mount Lavinia - 3 minutes walk to the beach, places to eat and shop close by. The rooms are spacious and clean. It is a good place to meet other travellers. The lady that runs the home stay is very helpful.

Close to the beach in Mount Lovinia. Nice place, far enough from crazy Colombo but closer inough by train (20 minutes). Trains in Sri Lanka are a really experience....

Very cheap and a great place to stay. The location is excellent and the host is very helpful. It's a home stay so you won't be having much fun there at night but the surrounding area is great and if you are just looking for a place to stay it's an excellent one.
