Mountain House Arthurs Pass Reviews

The kitchen is superb. It is clean and tidy, and with plenty of space. I think this kitchen is the best among all backpackers in which I have stayed in New Zealand.

Located near a shop and atomic bus stop. Staff are kind and informative and are willing to store your valuables in their safe so you dont have to spend money on the paid locker outside. I stayed at 6 bed dorm, 3 bunk beds, the room is very spacious and was nice and clean. Showers are a bit tiny, but kitchen is huge again. I liked the "among mountains" setting very much, you can watch the prettiest night sky in here. But your sleep may be disturbed by screaming kea birds (around 9-11pm).

We arrived at the hostel at 8pm to find a sign on the door informing us to call them with the phone card left on a hook. We used the $1 credit up and were lucky friends had phones that worked overseas as we waited 1hr before someone finally answered our call. When the man came he didn't even apologies, he gave us our key but didn't even tell us where our room was (we had to ask). The room itself was ok, one of the beds had some hair in the sheets. The shared bathroom were good sizes though.

It's worth for the price because its convenience and cleanness when you travel to Arthur's Pass.

excellent hostel in a wonderful place. if you are looking for a relax time, far away from the noise and the city, this is your place to be. I really felt if I were at my own house when I was in this hostel. Beautiful views and you will meet nice people with the same travell spirit as you. I definetly recommend this hostel
