Mostly a great stay in Wanaka. Reception seemed a lot friendlier to fellow German speakers than us which was a shame, and seemed very surprised that we asked for a security deposit box - saying nice people stay there so need for one! The setting is lovely, the garden was really nice and well kept with comfy chairs to sit on.

Spent 1 night. Safe, cozy, very clean, and price-competitive. Could use more bathroom/showers. Friendly staff, let us check out a few minutes late, but not as relaxed as some other hostels about their checkout time (otherwise I would have rated them higher). Did not spend much time hanging out at the hostel but it was typical for a good place. Of the 7 hostels I used on this trip (which were mostly very nice) this was in the top 3. I would stay here again and recommend it.

One of the best hostels we stayed at in NZ. Nice rooms (we slept in a dorm up front and a twin room at the back) with practical storage for backpacks, well equipped kitchen, large garden with terrace, common space with tv, ... all you could ask for. Steve is a great host, he even helped us to arrange some stuff for our hiking trip and had a room ready for us when we came back. I really recommend staying here if you're going to Wanaka (and it is nice there!)

An absolutely lovely hostel with a great atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff, just a short walk from the main street, Lake Wanaka and the i-site. Clean dorms and bathrooms, a big kitchen and lounge area and probably the best garden area of any hostel I stayed at in NZ.

Had a wonderful stay, Mountain View had by far the best mattresses I've ever slept on in a hostel, it makes a big difference when you are traveling to get that good night of sleep. Staff and owner were friendly and helpful, lots of DVDs to watch in spare time, and kitchen was nice and clean as well. Highly recommend this place, only a 5-10 minute walk from the information center as well.
