Really enjoyed my stay - staff are awesome (Hiromi, Nori, Misato); 500 Yen meals are delicious. Drying room for ski gear is a real plus. Beds are comfortable & rooms have good heaters. It's the first hostel I've stayed at in Japan that has a good lounge and bar area! Just be aware it's a bit awkward/costly getting there from Hakuba TRAIN station (shuttle buses dont run throughout the day, so taxi is only option at approx 1300-1500 Yen). Buses from Tokyo arrive close to hostel though.

I wouldn't stay in this Hostel. It 's not clean for one and the fact that there are many places that offer better accommodations for similar price makes this hostel less interesting. Showers and the underground area is simply disgusting. Whole place smells a bit old and not well maintained. If you want to ski find a place closer to the resorts, this Hostel is located in Echo Land which is kind of far from Happo-One or the Information center/Bus station.

Loved it! Dave and the rest of the staff are awesome and super helpful. Pub in the hostel is a great place to unwind or get started for the night. Food is good, beer is cold, beds are comfortable. Ski equipment and deals on lift passes available right there. I would recommend Mt.Hakuba Backpackers to anyone looking for a good place to have fun in Hakuba for a few days or a few weeks.

Had an amazing time at Mt Hakuba Backpackers! Met some amazing people and some great snow. Convenience store, food and onsen all within a short walk and bus to the ski resorts just down the road. My room was basic and small but hardly spent any time in there so all good! Nice bar space. Only downside was it was cold there during the day as heating was turned off.

It's a bog standard hostel. If you're coming to Hakuba to hit the slopes and need a place to sleep, relax in the evenings with decent priced beer and cheap meals then this is perfect. The bonus of having a (small) drying room for your gear with direct access outside makes it well suited for skiers/boarders and its 2 mins from the free shuttles to the slopes. Echoland is a decent part of Hakuba with restuarants/bars etc. The local staff are great although the Aussie staff can be a little cold.

Awesome Hostel with friendly staff. The hostel is really decked out with a pool table, lounge, bar, entertainment system. Just be aware Hakuba is a ghost town when the skiing season isnt on, and there isnt a lot to do, otherwise definatly book this place
