The hotel was under renovations but the manager was kind enough to explain this before we arrived incase we wanted to book elsewhere. He went above and beyond to help us.Room was not clean but nowhere in India is. Spotted a few bed bugs but covered my bed in fly spray and the manger gave me some stuff to use to and all was fine. Camel safari was good however not what the pictures he shows describes. The 'desert' is goat farm land and there is only 2small sand dunes and a million wind turbines!

I found this hostel a bit hard to review. The dorm is so cheap and while the dorm is nice and clean the communal showers are not the cleanest. However at that price it didnt matter plus My friends in a double rooms had a private shower and that was very clean. The camel treks we booked with Mystic are fantastic and we loved every minute of it. The staff are fantastic, the food lovely and watching a bollywood film in a cinema on the roof was a brilliant way to spend the evenings.

There are four things you should never miss during your stay in Mystic:1 go to the far end of the lake with your favorite book 2. sleep on the rooftop under sky with shooting star 3. watch a sunset with the fort as background 4. try meditation with a facilitator is available.

For a deluxe room, we were expecting a clean and decent toilet with working faucettes. Didnt happen. Room was extreeeemely warm, we couldnt sleep for the headaches it gave us... We would have rather slept on the hammocks on the terrace, much fresher!! Retaurant was not available at night because they had no one to cook (????)... Camel Safari was great though!! Tiger, the guide, was amazing! Thoroughly surprised about this place... Would have expected much more for 700inr a night...

I couldn't imagine having a better experience at a hostel than at this one. My friend and I arrived after a long overnight bus ride and were very tired, though wanted to do a camel trek that day. The staff graciously had us use a room for freshening up and rest, which had us welcomed and energized. The decor is lovely--many romantic old world touches that make you feel like you've stepped back in time, and overlooking the town's fort doesn't hurt, either! Heaven lies on the rooftop's hammocks.

Very, very nice hostel with friendly stuff. Guys worked hard for the tourists and we were very satisfied after the stay in Jaisalmer. We decided also for the dwo days camel trip to the desert, which this hostel offers and is was wonderful. I recommend the restaurant on the roof and food, that they prepared, especially Thali - the best meals, that i ate during my almost one month stay in India. They make also free transfer from and to train station.

We've booked for a single room my friend and I and they gave us a double room each! The camel safari is very good! This is the best place we've been in India (over 5 or 6 other). This place is so friendly and the staff is so devoted!

My 2nd time in Jaisalmer and the 2nd at Mystic Jaisalmer and again I felt home the moment I arrived. So good to be back and meet all those beautiful people again. Staff is doing their utmost best to help you wherever possible and to make you feel home, regardless of booking a tour with them or not. Perfect place to meet other travelers, to relax at the rooftop terrace in a hammock, watching a Bollywood movie at night. Still a place I definitely recommend. You leave here as a friend.

The atmosphere and the staff was okay, except for forgetting 2 pieces of our laundry and selling an overpriced desert safari - although it was really great and to be recommended in general. Cleanliness is a real problem - the rooms floor was clean but the beds (especially cushions) seem to be changed only after 5 guests. Below indian average. And we saw - no fun - a RAT in the hostel/restaurant kitchen, although the food was fine before, but after that we did no eat anything anymore...

Not recommended! Even to indian standarts it´s not safe. The staff isn´t helpful, the most heard word was no or not possible. They make their own rules and change them whenever they want. Rooms are "cleaned" everyday, but not the toilet and the litter from the guest before stayed at the floor beyond my bed until my departure.... Not to forget: The WiFi isn´t working in the most rooms also not on two-third of the rooftop. One good thing to say: The pick-up from the railway-station was free.

The best hostel we stayed at in India. Great location, great staff and most importantly great place for backpackers. We ended up meeting a lot of cool people and really enjoyed our stay. From the welcome tea to bollywood movie nights, these guys make sure that you are having a good time. The facilities are lacking a bit - shared bathroom (2 for 10 people) and scarce hot water. But totally worth it...

PLUS POINTS: Roof top relaxation/eating area, good atmosphere, CHEAP dorm room on roof (75 rupees per night!), food tasty and reasonably priced, space for tents on the roof, staff friendly and well spoken who make sure you feel at home. MINUS POINTS: Not many, not inside the fort itself, the overworked owner is in the process of \'doing up\' the place - bathrooms need attention, new paint for interiors, plants on roof lacking.

although the owner is a really vibrant man his efforts seems to be blocked by his staff. The hotel is terribly dirty even for indian standards with the unhealth ad of the dust of the many building sides around. The food of the hotel is in the lower side in terms of quality too. The location is just ok if you think about distance. It is in the end of the line of hotels surrounding the fort (the view from the roof is pretty). the camel safari aggresiviness seemed ok when i was there for 2 days.

Mixed feelings about this place. The rooms are cheap, rooftop is nice, and location is excellent. However, I felt that the staff was very insincere. I received a warm welcome, but they clearly lost interested as soon as I indicated I wasn't going to book the camel safari with them. They received high commission from shops they took me to and did not give me enough change upon checkout (was corrected immediately). Service is bare minimum, unless you book their other services.

Good hostel run by friendly and helpful staff in an ideal location for exploring wonderful Jaisalmer. Rooms were spacious and water HOT. Fun roof-top with great views over the fort and city. Camel safari offered was one of the more expensive 2-day, 1-night options but was still lots of fun and defintely worthwhile. Enjoyed our stay immensely and recommend staying at Mystic Jaisalmer to friends and other travellers.

Building is new and clean but still has character. The rooftop is great for just relaxing and meeting other guests, as is the common projector/movie room. The staff are very helpful, courteous and friendly, especially Jayjay who sped me to the train station on a motorbike in under 10 minutes.

Loved our time at Mystic Jaisalmer - ate all of our meals on the rooftop bar which provided a lovely view over the city. The staff went out of their way to accommodate for us, i.e. giving us directions and advice for around the city, driving us to an ATM, organising camel safari, putting on a bollywood movie night. The room was standard (i.e. what you expect of an Indian bathroom) but otherwise great value for money. Would recommend

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, we were given our room straight away after we arrive at 6 am. He also brought us to the local doctor when ,we needed. . We were NEVER pushed to do anything or buy anything from the hotel. We felt very welcome and truly enjoyed our stay here. We went on a camel safari, I had my two children with me and they enjoyed is so much. I would highly recommend Mystic Jaisalmer, we will definitely come back.

Stayed here a couple of nights and was really nice, good roof top terrace with a view of the fort. Food takes age to come... once a laughable 1.5hrs but that's Indian time for you. The owner is really nice and helpful although extrememly forgetful - one minute telling us we can change rooms and then the next completely forgetting we'd talked about it. Other people had the same problem which caused more severe consequences!
