Rooms all in all are ok, but the staff seems annoyed and quite lazy with no interest in providing advices nor useful info. They didn't give us the room's key so rooms are always open. Instructions provided to get to the place was completely wrong so it was impossible to find it by ourselves. Finally, even if the name of the place is Kitchen & Lodge, they do not serve breakfast neither by paying an extra.

While in a great location, I found little else positive about this hostel. The staff were barely helpful and generally appeared uninterested. And the place could do with a good scrub. In saying that, the private rooms (from what I could see) looked quite nice. Overall, I'd say this place is average at best. Shangri-La, on the other hand, was definitely worth the visit.

We stayed in a 6 bed dorm.Beds were uncomfortable with saggy mattresses and dust under the beds-otherwise ok. Showers were hot and movie night was fun. Staff were good with giving directions. Unfortunately they cannot help to book bus tickets so you will need to go to the bus station yourself. Nice rooftop. No locks on room doors but there are small lockers just outside.

Nice hostel. Loved the beds! Also liked the fact they had scales in the bathroom. First time I was able to weigh myself after 2months of travelling :)

The location is good, it's catered for backpackers which many places to stay in Shangri-La are not, the guy who runs it is helpful in recommending a variety of things. Decent shower. I stayed in a private room and the beds were so hard I might as well have been sleeping on the floor! The place feels a little tired. Nevertheless, after speaking to friends who stayed in other GHs in SL, this is your best bet.

Very good hostel with a very nice outside area. The dorms are fine and well-equipped but not very clean. The food is good and the staff helpful. I would stay there again.

Recreation facilities and space to relax very good Double room with ensuite also very good but first night in dorm was not Room crowded and dusty mattress very thin and hard and bins overflowing and toilet needed cleaning Consequently we upgraded for second night and were much happier

Nice common areas to hang around in, including the cafe/lobby area, a common room, a movie room, and a pleasant outdoor area - pity it was raining to fully enjoy the latter! It's situated in old town, so it's really convenient. Has cute dogs to play around with :)

Be careful because this hostel is really hard to find. The address written on HW (33 yiruomulang) is not correct. The owner has sent emails to HW but it's still not up to date. And don't count on locals to know where is this place. It's located near the in-construction old center in a small street. Send an email to them to ask the proper address. Otherwise the place is great and the cheapest I think. Staff very friendly and gave good info. They offered us a private room for the price of a dorm
