There should be a shared bathroom in each floor. Only one big bathroom in the basement and a small one in the first floor. We stayed in the forth floor and had to go up and down the stairs during the night. The breakfast was a disaster, there was no coffee, no milk, no bread, no clean cups. We had to wait for the staff to buy more bread. Although we spent most of the time out, the hostel atmosphere is very cold and not so comfortable. Our double room was very small and the lounge is cold.

A very nice quiet hostel in a beautiful old building. Bathrooms and rooms are kept very clean and staff are helpful with good English. Small sunny courtyard out the back is a nice chill out area after a day of walking the city. Location is very close to the university and big municipal food market. Not a social hostel; but that's probably a Coimbra thing. Makes for a good home base.

The hostel was so nice..I had the whole room for myself and the mattress was more comfy than my own one at home haha..It was all super clean and new and the woman at the reception was very nice and helpful. They also had very big lockers in the room. And the hostel is located right at Praca da Republica, it can't get better.
