We had a lovely stay at Shimaya. The owner was very helpful was more than happy to suggest things to do in Yudanaka. He also drove us to a lovely onsen with a beautiful view of the valley and took us up to see the monkeys. The room was a lovely Japanese style and was very comfortable. We were able to use the large hotel bath for a private onsen if we wanted. If you are going to Yudanaka, this is the place to stay.We had a lovely stay at Shimaya. Shimaya is excelente choice if you want to see Jigokudani Monkey Park. Mr. Yumoto takes you there with his car. He and his wife were very kind so was really worth the money i paid for 1 night (about 60USD). Great service. We were driven to and from tourist sites without additional charge.Not only was this extra service convenient it saved us time so we were able to see more sites on our short stay. I strongly recommended this hostel for your stay.Great service. I had such a wonderful stay at the Ryokan Shimaya. My room was excellent and the service that Mr & Mrs Yumoto provided was perfect. They are such a lovely couple. The Japanese breakfast that was available for an extra cost was one of the best meals I have had so far in Japan. I loved the monkeypark and the Roten-buro Tomi-no-yu and the lovely owners were always ready to drive you everywhere. Thanks for a beautiful memory! I had such a wonderful stay at the Ryokan Shimaya. I really enjoyed my stay at the Shimaya. The hotel owners were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make my stay a pleasant experience. I visited an outdoor onsen with a spectacular view of the sunset and went to see the snow monkeys too, which was great. Yudanaka itself is a small village but is was great to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few days.I really enjoyed my stay at the Shimaya. The owners are incredibly nice and accommodating. They will even drive you to the opening of the monkey park and pick you up when you are done. Shimaya is an excellent place to stay when visiting Yudanaka. The owner of the place Ichirou-san was extremely friendly and helpful. He took us with his car several times to Monkey Park and to a beautiful outdoor spa. Yudanaka an its surroundings is nice and friendly, after dinner one evening the chef of the restaurant took us back to Shimaya with his car. Jan Engstom Sweden Shimaya is an excellent place to stay when visiting Yudanaka. The owner of the place Ichirou-san was extremely friendly and helpful. Wonderful place to stay- the owners were extremely helpful, we got a lift to the monkey park and plenty of advice on places to eat and visit. Yudanaka and nearby shibu onsen are lovely little towns, perfect break before our visit to Tokyo. If you get a chance to visit the outdoor rotemburo in the hills, do so, it was the highlight of our trip.Wonderful place to stay- the owners were extremely helpful, we got a lift to the monkey park and plenty of advice on places to eat and visit.
