Probably the only hostel in Moscow that really feels like a hostel, with a friendly atmosphere and parties, clubs or bars almost every night. Most of the guests here are actually travellers from another countries unlike other hostels, where you find Russians on business trips. Considering all this you can easily forgive some small annoyances here and there.

There are too many rooms and very little kitchen and not enough lavatories. It is very uncomfortable that the kitchen is next to the bathroom and lavatory (there is not ventilation). The sheets and towels are very old... we recommend buy a new ones. However the location is excellent and people nice.

I would definitely recommend this hostel. Nice girls on the reception, and great location, only 10 minutes walk to the Red Square makes it good place to stay. Cheers

The hostel was decent. I have NO idea how it got BEST HOSTEL in Russia at some point. The bathrooms were pretty gross, the showers had a nice buildup of hair and the kitchen was a mess. The girl who worked the front desk had a total attitude and was unfriendly and unhelpful. There also really isnt a big hang out room to meet other people. I would say look elsewhere. It is decent, but I think there are much better hostels out there.

This place is in a good location, just 5 minutes from red square and also got many places to eat, drink, shop etc. around. Beds and sheets should've been cleaner and stuff must be more open to the guests, they're nice but u have to ask the same question to several people and twice at least to get a proper-useful information. after all, good place to stay and enjoy the city(moscow aint such a good city by the way) but much of fun inside.

If you want a cheap and decent bed in the middle of Moscow, this is a good place for you. This is the second time I stayed at Napoleon's, and I would definitely consider it again. Facilities are ok, there's a locker for each bed in the bedroom, but you need your own padlock. If you're looking for parties and new friends, there might be better options, the sofa in the reception was mostly used for sleeping and internet-surfing. But if all you want is a place to lay your head, go ahead.

Hostel is in an awesome location with great character and very secure. The hostel is wearing down from its high in 2007. The staff were rude and even insulated us because of our Ukrainian heritage.

Nice and cosy hostel perfectly located in the centre of Moscow, next to tourist attractions, bars and restaurants. All the staff was great and friendly, and they really helped making my stay in Moscow a fantastic experience!! I'll be back!!!

We have a very pleasant experience at this hostel, the staff are very nice, the owner it is a really gentle and funny person. The rooms are very clean as well as the showers. There is a little but very comfortable common area where you can drink and chat freely. If I have to say something about the hostel is that it is in a fourth floor so you have to take a breath before.( this really is not a problem). You should go there if your are going to Moscow.

I stayed at the Napoleon Hostel for two nights. I was in a 6-bed female dorm. The facilities were good and the beds comfortable (A change having just come from Asia). The staff are very friendly and helpful with good English. The common area is a gret place to mingle with others or just relax. It was a bit tricky finding the hostel as there is a tiny sign stuck to the wall and that is it. My taxi driver had to call to find out exactly where it was. The location is great. 5-10 mins walking to Red Square an

Napoleon is a good choice. Close to Red Square, totally fine accomodations, hangout space is nice but not too crazy. It was a good choice for me--one night in Moscow, I got a map and met fellow travelers. Would recommend it for the price and location.

If you are looking for a clean bathroom and kitchen, this is definitely not your place. The toilet's floor is always full with toilette paper although there is a sign saying 'Do not throw toilete paper in the bin, throw it in the toilet', but nowbody seems to care and the reception staff won't clean it. The kitchen, more or less the same, too small, too dirty, too old, there is no luggage room for the departure day. The rooms are ok, only there is no key, they are always open.

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Guest. We strongly disagree with your comments. We have mulitlingual staff, who speak English, French, Spanish, Russian to help you with any questions that you may have 24 hours a day. Reading over guest reviews, other guests have had no problems with the level of service we provide, which in our opinion is far and beyond the level you can expect in other hostels (or even hotels) in Moscow. Please be reasonable in the level of help you need. You are paying 600 Roubles a bed and we do have other guests to give advice to and we have to do other work aswelll. There are detailed information boards concerning frequently asked questions and free access to guide books and free access to internet if the receptionists are busy. We find your comments completely without merit.

The hostel was in bad conditions, mainly the shower and the bathrooms. Even the blankets were clean, they look very old. The staff didn't help at all when you asked for some directions and so on. By the other hand, it has an excellent location.
