DANGEROUS! AVOID. DIRTY very, very dirty. Will try to charge 500 for 'registration' which every other hostel does free and fine you for everything the staff do instead of their jobs; dirty dishes, drinking/smoking in the stairwell using the washing machine with out paying the outrageous price of 300r (other hostels 100) RUDE, UNHELPFUL, UNSAFE, NOT FOR BACKPACKERS.

Dear Guest, I'm sorry to hear that your experience of Napoleon Hostel fell short of your expectations. However i do feel that your review is very unfair. The hostel is not unsafe, we have a 24 concierge, a key code entry system and CCTV. Registration is part of the. Russian law, and is optional to do. It’s a common rule in all hostels for guests to wash their dishes after themselves. “Oh my god, people were drinking in the hostel??? – well that’s what normal backpackers do.Ding Dong!!

Hostel location is fantastic however the hostel I found quite average, mainly due to cleanliness and security. Lots of people living in the hostels; not an issue but the dorms are often a big mess with clothes, beers and junk in the rooms. This is the guests' fault however nothing is enforced, not even for 'residents'. Lots of things go missing; most commonly food from the fridge, but also a phone and personal item from other guests. There are cameras but it still happens and isn't addressed.
