The hardest mattress/futon I have encountered in Japan. That goes for beds and the traditional japanese rooms. Aside from that an eccentric, if quixotic place. Lights out early.

Un buon ostello, personale carino e disponibile ma non dispone di camere private per sole due persone.

Ugaya was a perfectly good place to stay. Good price, good location, nice staff. Considering it is a pretty reasonable price I was perfectly satisfied with the place. If you want to stay somewhere nicer then pay more, if not this will serve the touring individual just fine. We used it as a one night stop. I like that they provided lockers (with lock) for your stuff at no charge.

A relatively small establishment with a common area and kitchen on the first floor, and all the rooms on floors above. I stayed in a 3-person traditional-style room (tatami) and was provided with some very comfy bedding. However, whether you\'re in a bunk bed or traditional room, there isn\'t much to muffle or suppress the sounds of the other guests (i.e. snoring). The hostel has only 1 shower that all guests must share. Very clean otherwise, and really nice staff.

The place itself has a very cool 'independant' charm - it's just a shame I only noticed the English manga on their lounge bookshelf quite late! I could have read more otherwise... Having one shower wasn't a problem, it was always free when I needed it. Would stay here again.

Perfectly located hostel with young, English speaking and knowledgeable staff. Had a great time there and there are opportunities to meet the other guests. Do try their homemade coffee in the morning.
