Second time staying, very friendly staff who will join in a party. Young guests, mostly European. Fresh breakfast but only available from 9:30 on. 5 minutes from Istiklal Street (uphill), 5 minutes from major tram stop (downhill). Cheap, tasty, restaurant near. Atmosphere, always welcoming. Will come back.

nice hostel in a great part of Istanbul. Really close to the place to be at night and not to fare away from all the tourist locations.

A great place to stay!! Very familiar, very nice people and sleep inside a vulcanic rock and being warm its fantastic. Only onde thing to notice there're no hot water 24 hours. But we highly recomended!!!

so it is hard to decide what was worse...the fact that there was no heat, no hot water, matresses on the floor, no clean sheets, dirty blankets or staff that tried to overcharge you at departure time. very dissapointed to say the least and a constantly hungry cat living there that trys to eat your food all the time didn't help. definately look for other options in Istanbul.   Read Owner Comments

Nice place to stay, difficult to find in the dark. Lots of political/anti-political stuff on the wall, but staff and guests were completely non-threatening. Great kitchen with cutest cat and her kittens, though these must be grown up by now. bedrooms adequate, but not very light.

Very fun hostel. Well located between Istiklal Caddesi and Tophane. Very good breakfast, and an amazing accessible underground room. Male staff very welcoming and helpful, not like the female staff who are far from the well known Turkish hospitality.

great staff, great common space to meet travelers and locals and talk about politics (there\'s definitely a low key \"engaged\" vibe to the place). interesting location - close to tophane metro stop, close to main beyoglu party street, but in a residential, quiet, somewhat reserved part of town. private room was well sized and the shower was hot and had fantastic water pressure. only complaint was that the walls are paper thin, and it\'s a bit of a hike to the touristy areas.
