Property Information:
New Ing Lodge offers bed and breakfast, dorm style rooms and camping in the Eastern Fells on the edge of the Lake District and the Eden Valley in Cumbria. The Hostel/Bed & Breakfast is open from 3:30pm. New Ing has won several awards such as the Outstanding Commitment to Responsible Tourism from Nurture Eden and a British Green Tourism Gold award for commitments towards Local and enviromental practices! The hostel is owned and run by two young brothers who enjoy biking, hiking, climbing and all outdoor pursuits. We have our own chickens for eggs in the morning and are constantly improving the building and the business on a daily basis.
We are becoming Greener by installing a great BioMass Boiler improving the heeating and hotwater to our guests!

We are positioned in Shap, on Wainwright's and the Westmorland Way, and are easily accessible for the Eastern Fells of the Lake District, The Howgills and The Pennines. New Ing Lodge was a working farm up until the late 1980's but as far as records can be found, it has also been a Coach House/ Guest House since 1820.
It also makes us just over an hour and a half from cities such as Liverpool, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester, and less than an hour from Newcastle and Preston.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECK IN AFTER 9PM UNLESS YOU RING ON THE DAY TO CONFIRM WITH STAFF.
The hostel is on the wainwrights coast to coast walk and therefore the people staying are walkers, if you are loud after 10pm you will be asked to leave, immediately.

The New Ing Lodge is wonderful! Scot and Jamie are very helpful. We were planning a hike and Scott took out a map and gave us 6 rout options. He even let us borrow the map, and he gave us a ride to our first spot because he was going into town. The food was great. I really liked that they kept their own chickens in the back. Very clean and warm. On of the best parts was how much they recycled and are so eco friendly. Not even hostels recycle anything, but New Ing Lodge recycles everything!
