Booked for three nights but was then sent an email saying they were overbooked and that I had to contact Hostelworld to get my deposit. Luckily I checked my email otherwise I would have arrived in London with nowhere to stay. I contacted HW and two weeks later still have no deposit. Avoid, avoid. avoid. Unprofessional.
I was disturbed at 4am by my room mates arriving in the room, drunk and very loud. Room was a mess when I arrived - not very inviting. I did appreciate the help I received when arriving late, to book me in.
When I arrived at 10.30am, the reception was still not awake. Once I had finally checked in, my 'roommate' was asleep and upon turning the lights on I saw the room was tiny and it was very dirty. The bed was lumpy, pillows gross. The cleaners vaccummed the wooden floors - my feet were black from walking around. The next morning, the continental breakfast was only 2 pieces of toast and juice. Highly unimpressed.

It´s a very nice hostel. It has a great location and they serve two meals a day. It has a good value for money! My experience was a very good stay there.
Absolute hithole. Rooms were like prison cells. Toilets were like sewers. Unprofessional staff. Avoid.
the mansion house is a very good RESIDENCE! if u are planning to go there for party then go to another place!!! i really enjoy my time there and i was looking for that: a quiet place! breakfast and dinner is offered for free and that is an UNBEATABLE thing in London. Is like school food (heavy strog )! don't spect healthy or gourmet for that price and please don't complain for stupid things! most of the people there is studying english or looking for a job so they are there for a long time
The staff who welcomed me when I arrived was friendly and accommodating. But the staff who attended the next day wasn't friendly enough to even smile. I had the same breakfast in two days. There's no other options either. The bed squeaks, other than that, it was quite comfy and clean. The toilets are not so clean though. But the bathroom, however small like in other hostels in London, was clean and the water temperature and pressure is good.
This was my first over seas experience and my first hostel experience. It was a great location, right near hyde park and the tube, I stayed in a room with just myself and one other French girl(I got lucky) - this backpackers had a lot of Spanish people living in it, which was perfect for a quiet stay. If your looking for a party this isn't it. As a female traveling alone I felt very safe. The food at dinner was not the best but I did not eat it as muh as possible. I would stay again. ;)
Nice hostel ! The service from the Italian reception was really great, a bit slow though haha. It's really nice overall.
A decent place to sleep, if thats all you want to do there. The public bathrooms and toilets mostly seemed to be out of use or just locked at almost all hours. The room itself was dingy and had paint peeling everywhere, the cold water tap in the room came through as hot water, and the hot water tap, also hot... Reasonably quiet.

The worst thing in this hostel is the cleaning in the rooms. Its chip because included breakfast and dinner. The location is very good.
Just basic accommodation, breakfast and dinner included, close to main London's attractions, staff is good enough and helpful, clearness is not so good
No towels available, no toilet paper at toilet at my floor. Unflexible regarding booking: booked two places in double dorm, which ended up to be in different rooms, and I had to pay both although I only needed one. Breakfast only from 7.30 to 8.30!
room hadn't been cleaned, garbage was more than full otherwise great place, welcoming staff
The price for a 4-bed-dorm including breakfast and dinner (during the week) or lunch (on the weekends) is unbeatable for London city. That's also why around half of the people staying there (mostly French and Spanish young people) actually live in the hostel, so you don't have this special traveler atmosphere, also because the hostel doesn't have much information for tourists like maps. The food is ok but the shared bathrooms have ridiculously small sinks. There's no lift for 4 floors.
Great location near Kensington Gardens and just a few minutes walk from the Lancaster Gate Tube stop. Safe, relatively clean, quiet location. Not much room for interacting with other guests, but a good place to stay if you're just looking for a safe place to sleep in London.
A very nice hostel. Very grand appearance which looks like a hotel and made me wonder whether I have gone to a wrong place. A very good value of money with breakfast and dinner provided. But the room looks a little bit old and the stairs are a little bit steep.
Good location, good facilities, but hard to find staff after 9pm cuz reception closed that time. A big problem is that I booked a bed in a female dorm but one of the girls had her boy friend sleep with her on her bed for the 2 nights I stayed there！
