Such an experience! If you're not aware how to bargain, be prepared! The manager has more than one trick is in pocket. You have access to several things, but you need to know what they are(I'm teasing you!!!). He very convinient and will pleased to give 100% satisfaction. Have a nice stay in the most exotic hostel of Jerusalem!

Highly recommendable:Top location for Old City and tram to Central bus station.Offers good organized tours at cheap prices-going on your own is difficult an you need much more time.New Palms has a high standard,is very comfy. Management combines Israeli effectivness and Arab hospitality.Good breakfast, comfy common area (very stylish). Nice, clean rooms and good price for Jerusalem (usually quite expensive).Eat and shop in the near vicinity for non- tourist prices (without hazzle).I^ll be back !!!

The manager played "bait and switch", and he did not show the single room I ordered as displayed on the web::clean and warm. Instead he showed room #30 which was prepared single room. But he claimed I should pay more to stay in it. We then started to haggle unlike what I thought in advance. In the end I paid 22% more but refused to list the final amount on the invoice. He just listed the price I agree on your web. I wonder the extra I was forced to pay ended up in somebody's personal pocket.

Some of the facilities promised (lockers, luggage storage, trip arrangements) were not there and I received merely a shrug when I inquired about them.

*****5 star hostel! :) This is my 3rd time at this hostel, and I always have a great experience here. This has become like my second home, and the staff like my family. It's in a perfect location for sites and food (right on a market street) and right outside old city and short walk to new city. I stayed in a private room in the hostel and it was very good, everything you needed was there. The staff are very kind and helpful-- get to know them! they are wonderful people. Highly recommended place

Affordable stay in great location opposite the Damascus Gate to the old city. The place was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were fantastic, they couldn't help us enough. Recommend this place highly.

Don't come. Toilet didn't work so I politely asked for fixing. The staff(Alex) was rude and told me:How can you expected if you paid only 160 SHK? You are not from Africa, don't you know the difference between the hostel and hotel? he changed me to another"better room" and said its a mercy for me, which he claimed worths 400 SHK. Not clean at all, need to jump into the toilet cos its only 10 cm between bed and toilet. If you ask any travel info, they only tried to sale you their travel package.

This hostel is a cheap option if you want to stay near the old town. BUT: It seems to be never cleaned, bathrooms are dirty and smelly, the "common room" is cold and naked, the heated area next to the reception is a place where you can sit with your laptop, but no place to get to know people. And the dorm beds are so narrow that you don't have enough space to turn around. Short: A cheap, central, dirty, smelly hole without character. I wish I had spent some Shekels more for a better place.

Thank you for your comment, but next time you should let us know if you want to meet people, we can introduce you to hundreds of people in the hostel! We were full during your stay, which was only one night, so it surprising that you didn't meet anyone. We have staff who clean our bathrooms 24/7, and we don't know which room you're talking about-- all our rooms have clothes on! And comfy couches, television, music instruments, heat, and computers for public access. You're welcome to come again and give us another try!

Hands down the worst hostel i have ever been to. It's way too expensive (10 EUR for the cheapest accomodation) and the bunk beds are scary (the upper ones are too far from the ground and if you move you will certainly fall), the bathrooms are disgusting, it is very cold in winter and I certainly did not dare to take a shower due to the uncleanliness of the hostel in general. Only good remark: it's across the Damascus Gate and it's above a fruit and vegetable stand that is cheap.

Hands up! Thank you for your reply but we are not a 5 star hotel, we are a clean and friendly place that many people enjoy coming to. It's surprising that you stay for less than 12 hours and you already decide we are the worst hostel. Our prices are one of the best in the area and we are one of the cleanest hostels in the city! It's a shame you did not stay longer, you may have changed your mind. You're always welcome to come back :)

A decent place, not great, but not bad. It was a bit cramped, and felt a bit dirty, and while it is a noisy area, it was great being just across the street from the gate to the old city, and as this is a Muslim part of town, still plenty of places to eat on Sabbath, and cheaper areas also. There are nicer hostels in Jerusalem, but this is a good value and a good location, so it is not a bad place to stay at all.

New Palm Hostel is a nice place to stay at the perfect location in Jerusalem, just by Damascus Gate. You get what you pay for, comfortable dorms but noisy traffic from the outside. Free WiFi and friendly staff. I would recommend this hostel!

The hostel was very attractive and friendly. The floors are tiled, the walls clean, the beds comfortable, the breakfast delicious. The location is awesome because it's across the street from the old city, and next to the buses and tram to go to Bethlehem and other parts of Israel. It is in the Arab section so the markets and restaurants remain open during the Sabbath. The management helps residents find tours. We have traveled 3 months staying in many hostels and this was one of the best.

The hostel is very well located right in the Muslim quarter, meaning that on Shabbat you won't have any issues finding shops open, and it is across the road from the Old town. The hostel is a little run down, and rough around the edges, but the owner is nice, and the location trumps the negatives in anycase.

elocation is really good... just a few steps from the gates of the old city.. but the owner or the guy in charge was really arrogant and he also tried to charge us more... We booked an 8 beds room and he put us in a 12 beds room... and it was really durty... they need to clean it often... smell so bad..
