DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL. I was staying in the Galata tower area previosuly and booked this hostel for its great location. After booking I receieved an email direct from the hostel manager telling me they HAD CHANGED ADDRESS from what was advertised. I never found it as the address was difficult to reach, even when asking locals for help. The new location is in a shady area of Istanbul, some distance from the tourist Taksim area. I was warned by locals to be alert to thieves in the area.

Dirt, little space , a bathroom for every room, lack of light in rooms, a disaster of hostel

Dirty bathroom. Bad smell in the hostel and a lack of fresh air. Almost no lights and the owner kept the lights off in the " commonroom". Would not recomended this place

Superb staff, great location, excellent room (incl. AC!), though only 1 bathroom/toilet for a whole floor.

The location is really easy to find, the rooms are clean and the staff is extremely nice and helpful.

We satyed in a private double room, and it was great. Good room, nice breakfast, close to Tophane metro station, so really easy to get to all the touristic stuff.

This place didn't any lockers to put our stuff. Although the owner told us, we can leave our important stuff in reception desk next to him. It wasn't we were looking for. Dorm room was smelling really bad and heating was not working. We had to wear our jackets/coats while sleeping and blankets they provide were so thin. Location is really nice, very close to taksim/Istiklal street. If this place is your last chance, you can use it. Otherwise, I'm sure you can find cheaper and better places.

We stayed as a couple in the Double Bed Room for five nights. The Red River Hostel is a nice place, clean bed sheets, hot shower, Internet. The room was quite cool though and there was no breakfast. If you're looking for a hostel feeling with common activities and parties, you should go elsewhere, but if you just want a calm place to sleep in the center if Istanbul and with a very helpful receptionist, then you might like it here. We were all in all satisfied and wish the hostel good luck!

The guy at the reception is kind and very helpful. The location of the hostel is hard to find and difficult to reach because of the ascending bad constructed road especially if you are carrying a suitcase. The room had a broken bed in certain points. The breakfast is decent. I would not try it again because of the location mostly. Nevertheless you have to climb all these stairs to reach your room carrying baggages.

This is a basic but good hostel, close to a tram stop and Galata Tower and about a 10 minute walk to Taksim Square. There's only one toilet, which is the biggest drawback. Breakfast is decent - bread, an egg, some cucumber and tomato and coffee. For Istanbul, it's definitely a good value.

Found it hard to find initially but it is in a good location. Good breakfast included. Would stay here again

Breakfasts are good. Also the owner is very dependable. The location is good, amy people are not only to bo close to party. It is more peacefull. It is a very good Hostel.

A great hostel with an even greater owner. Fevzi helps you with everything you need to find in this giant city. When you want to extend your turkish skills he is also a very good person to ask. Stayed more than 2 weeks in the hostel and the atmosphere was all the time great. Breakfast was a good start everyday where you can meet new people. 200m from the hostel away is the İstiklal Shopping Street where you can find nice shops on daytime and on the weekend a great nightlife with pubs and clubs.

This hostel is good, the owner and his family are very kind people that help you in anything you need. The room was perfectly and the breakfast was the best! Esse hostel foi otimo, o dono e a sua familia sao pessoas muito gentis que ajudam voce no que voce precisar. O quarto foi perfeito e o cafe da manha foi o melhor!

Really nice hostel, excellent value, bright and clean room, with air con. Also lovely breakfast, really friendly staff. Family run place, very nice people who make you feel very welcome. Info on hostelworld is a bit out of date in that the roof terrace is now part of a private room so you will only get to use it if you book that room - or, if the room is free, then the other guests can still use the terrace but that can't be guaranteed. You can see this info on the hostel's own website.

The hostel is excellent, the hosts are very friendly always trying to help with any questions you have. I would definitely go to the same hostel back again.

Our host was amazingly welcoming, made us feel right at home straight away. The hostel has a lovely feel to it and fantastic location. The bathroom was a little grotty in that the shower door didnt work perfectly so the floor would get quite wet, but other than that it was great.

A good and cheap place to stay which is located near Taksim. A few minutes walk from the main shopping and food street. Good Turkish breakfast.

Nice hostel, not much of a hostel atmosphere though.

We had a great stay here. Excellent atmosphere, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The staff was wonderful, and the breakfast was great too. Free coffee, tea and water was nice as well.
